Right, that's why Alleva signed Orgeron barely 24 hours after Texas entered the Herman equation rather than spending another month to do his due diligence. I'm sure Alleva didn't want to let his new hot commodity HC prospect be lured away. No way was it panic or the lack of any Plan B. Give me a break.
Flat out path of least resistance and laziness by Alleva. I'll never buy into the "nobody else was interested". LSU is a Top 10 job, some would argue top 5. Im willing to bet there were coaches all over the place that would have been interested.
Alleva acted like a jilted lover when Herman turned him down and said "he already has someone who wanted the job" and Bam! We got Orgeron
Interested, sure, but Alleva has baggage and it ain't much of a secret. I have always been of the mindset that Alleva is more of a deterrent than he is at any level considered a coach friendly AD. A lot of coaches do think that with miles record, the bar for getting fired is gonna be set pretty high. A little bit of that same Texas being a shitty ceiling to have to coach under mentality. Who wants to coach under the politics of this bunch any more than Texas? No wonder it was between them and us that 1 coach barely put up a bidding war. We got the ugly chick at the end of the bar before the bar even opened and then turned around and payed a fortune for the right to another date. Geaux Tigers
Worst destination!!! Please!! This is the 3rd best program to coach under. LSU is the only team in a power 5 in the whole state which produces some of the most talented players in the country and has a huge pipe line in the state of Texas and Florida. Not to mention the facilities are amazing and the culture is one of the best in college football. Whoever wrote this doesn't understand that programs go through slumps and Aleva is working with a budget.
