First i would like to say, thank you John Chavis, i hope you make a permanent residence in Baton Rouge. The Defense looked amazing last night, and just as good as the Florida defense if not better. I would even venture to say that Florida's defense couldn't have contained their offense the way the Tiger D did last night. The linebackers and secondary, and front 4 played their asses off last night, and they deserve all the love and support from Tiger nation. The one touchdown Florida did score shouldn't have been a touchdown in the first place because of Riley Cooper's hold but i won't be a Georgia fan and blame that play for the loss. Welcome back LSU Defense!! You just held the greatest college football player of all time 13 points. Which should have been enough to win this game.
Offensively, what can i say that hasn't been said. Jordan Jefferson can't make decisions quick enough in the pocket, and has no pocket awareness, you have to put 95% of his sacks this seasons directly on him. But that wasn't really the surprising part. What surprised me was the fact that we didn't try to establish the line of scrimmage. From what i saw Charles Scott off tackle was working. I am starting to think that Crowton's offense isn't effective in the SEC, and only effective when we play non conference games. JJ can't take sacks like that, it could have been the downfall against Georgia, and it was the downfall against Florida, along with the gameplan. No Russell Shepard was not a good thing either.
First of all i think the staff needs to think about pulling Jordan Jefferson, but its going to be a tough call, because Jarett Lee has no wheels. I like the fact that Jefferson can pick up first downs with his legs, and when he does throw the ball he does a good job, but his lack of pocket presence, and awareness, and inability to get rid of the ball quick is his downfall. And i don't know if that is something that can be coached. He looks way too scared to pull the trigger. We still control our own destiny, and we can win the SEC and for that reason, i think the coaches at least need to evaluate the Quarterback situation. If they decide to stick with Jefferson, he had better start getting rid of the ball, and stop taking sacks. We cannot rely on our Defense to score points for us too, we have to have a capable offense to win this league.
Great Job Tiger D, and lets get to Atlanta, so we can beat Florida, because this team CAN beat Florida.
