This is why Auburn fans shouldn't be allowed to post in LSU forums:lol: . How could have Atlanta possibly drafted Lebron. The Cavs wouldn't traded that pick for anything.
I think Reddick is way overrated myself. His overall shopoting percentage is lower than his 3 point shooting. He doesn't defend well and he only gets his points because he's Duke's number one option on almost every position. He's got great range and can hit the 3's and FT but that's the only thing I like about his game.
The Hawks have endured mucho criticism here in Atlanta for past first-round draft failures. Had the Hawks purposefully lost the final couple of games that season, a tactic they are openly using in the current season, they would've had the shot at Lebron ........ the failure to do so also led to the ousting of Stan Kasten as head of the organization.
Losing games purposefully. A very good reason not to be a fan of pro ball. Getting paid millions to lose.
There is no causation here. There is a LOTTERY for a reason. Actually, the worst team very rarely get the #1 pick, so to assert that they could have done anything (win, lose, whatever) to get Lebron is just foolish. And What a brilliant point. Yea, that's very prevalent in pro sports. Happens all the time. :nope: Nice way to mask your jealousy of them for making a lot of money.
Regardless of what you interpret as "assertion," the fact remains that the team that finishes with the worst record has a statistical advantage (by design) of receiving the number one pick in the draft. Fact.
NoLimit, you're right, the lottery was one of the few good changes the NBA has made. It has helped that aspect no doubt. But teams do dump payroll and try to make sure they are in the lottery I bet. But there are several reasons I don't watch the NBA and this isn't one of them.
Duke's winning ways in and of themselves woulda likely produced only a passing irritation among other fans, as I imagine UCLA did "back in the day". You know, the mild, jealousy-fueled irritation that comes with seeing the same guys getting the same pub from the same people all the time (sounds like USC in football these days, too). What puts Duke in a class by themselves, IMO, is one guy. I don't think I even have to mention his name. I bet 90% of you can correctly guess who it is who---through his arrogance, his protected status among the refs, and his balls-out good freaking luck---years ago turned thousands who're indifferent to Duke into a generation of Blue Devil detesters.
