I don't understand why everyone is assuming things here. Some assume they score a touchdown Some assume they score a field goal How about I just assume that they intercept the ball on the next play and run it back for a score. Regardless of what everyone wants to assume we still won the game 26-10, no assumptions just facts.
Screw Bama! Those wonderful fans quit coming around here after they lost that great coach that would never leave bama for TAM. I do believe they learned that The Program at bama was not the wonderful job all coaches jump at.
Why are you so mad at Bama? We have never said that LSU cheated us, and we do not feel that way, but we do feel that we were cheated, because the call was not made. Even the SEC commission issued a statement today that there was a mistake made. I don't know that it would have made any difference in the outcome of the game, but no one likes to feel that they have been cheated.I don't think that any LSU fan would have felt any differently than we did if it had happened to your team. I have even joked to friends that if it had happened to your team, those refs would have needed armed guards to get out of that stadium. After all has been said and done, it doesn't make any difference now. We were not playing for a championship, bowl eligibility, or a ranking, but we sure needed that win for our coach, or at least to know that we were given every opportunity to at least try to win.
I can understand where you come from. My question is why has not a whole lot been said about the grounding call (lack of) on the Alabama QB in the endzone? He was not out of the box and got rid of the ball, should have been a saftey......I know it was said on tv.....did anyone else notice this non call or is it just me being wrong?
To be frank with you, I don't remember that. What quarter did that happen, and was it after our incident? I think I just quit watching after that. I believe you when you say that it was a missed call, and you guys should be just as upset as we are. Something needs to be done about the situation. Especially for games where a lot is on the line. How would it be if it happened to Auburn in the SEC championship game...not just one call, but several, and they lost, and did not get to go to the Orange bowl. You know what I think bothered me the most? When the play first happend..I really didn't know if a ref. was down there where he could see it, but when they showed the replay, and he was looking right at them. That is when it really upset me.
Actually I brought that very thing up, the missed intentional Grounding call. No one really mentioned it. On their board I said, the call was bad however LSU won not because of that, it won because it played a very good game against a very good team. Fact is Bama had problems with field position fumbling kickoffs, and had a turnover that gave us a TD. Yes the call was poor however it was not what had won or lost the game. It did change the score but not the outcome. Tidefans.com has for the most part a pretty good collection of people, I enjoy the banter there.
When I saw that play live I thought it was clearly intentional grounding too. After watching the Cox replay, it appeared much closer than I originally thought. The rule is so subjective ... 5 yards either direction of where the ball is snapped. Upon further review, it was a borderline call. I'll say this ... Pennington was definately outside of the 5 yards AFTER Wroten pile drove him into the ground!
Well, we feel a little cheated because it is being made out that LSU didn't win the game by outscoring, out-rushing, and out-defending Bama. No, Bama lost it on a no call by the referees. We're not mad at Bama, just disappointed that you don't seem to acknowledge that LSU had something to do with the loss. Bad calls are part of the game and everybody gets them. Get used to it. Bama lost this game by rushing for less than 82 yards and failing to score more than 10 points. Bama lost by fumbling and allowing a TD return. Bama lost by letting LSU pile up 196 yards rushing and score 26 points. Bama lost by runnng out of gas in the second half and getting outscored 20-0 including allowing half of LSU's total yardage in the 4th quarter. Alabama has won a lot of games in this league and they have almost always been gracious losers on the few occasions when they haven't won. Blaming the referees for a loss has always been a losers lament and it is sad to see some Bama fans feeling that way. You guys should be bigger than that. I can not imagine Coach Bryant blaming a loss on a 3rd-quarter no-call. Could the referees in the SEC be better? Yes, they certainly could. Do they sometimes make mistakes that hurt a team? Yes, they do. Do they deliberately cheat and try to influence a game? No, they don't. In thirty years of watching SEC football, I've never seen any evidence of it.
ahh another big play that was missed. I was screaming "safety" when it happened. The ball reached the line of scrimmage yet he was almost in the very middle of the hashes. I didnt hear the announcers I suppose since i was screaming. Anyhow, when you make only 8 first downs you have nothing to bitch about.
