My son recently moved to Atlanta. He's 30. He lives just north of Buckhead. Can you Atlantans give me a heads up on a good place to check out the Tigers?

The Alumni Association watches games at the Rio Grande Cantina (3227 Roswell Road, 404-237-3227). Its in Buckhead and attracts a pretty mixed crowd.

Another place he may want to try is the Depeaux (303 East Howard Ave. Decatur, GA 30030) It is a new cajun/creole restaurant. It would be about a 15 minute trip from Buckhead. The food is pretty good. Its owned by some folks from Baton Rouge and its the only place in town that serves frog legs year round.

Thanks. He's a ULL grad. Does that matter?

How far is Decatur from the North Perimeter (Abernathy Road) area? I'll be up there the week after Thanksgiving and may want to get me some froggies..

I think they stopped asking for transcripts, so his secret should be safe.

Its about 12-15 miles depending on where exactly he lives on Abernathy. You'd just take 285 east to exit 39.

Have you tried the Depeaux yet, Is it any good? I'm still looking for a good Cajun Restaraunt in the Atl area.

Just wondering if it was a members only type of thing.

Abernathy is where my Atlanta office is. My son lives on Garson Drive.

mako's, I finally have peace now that I can be reasonably certain that photos of my last visit have been destroyed. What happens in Buckhead does not stay in Buckhead!!

Oh, wait, he wanted to see the game? nevermind...

My wife and I both like it. Everything has been good except the crawfish tails which had way too much cayenne pepper.

Atkins Park in Smyrna is an LSU bar. The Hooters on Cobb Parkway and Cumberland is an "official LSU Football HQ", which means that they have the sound on for the games and deck the place out in purple and gold balloons.

I have been to them all and prefer the Rio Grande for a game. They play the fight songs and "Go Tigers" over their sound system during the game. There are usually over a hundred LSU fans there, which makes for a pretty fun atmosphere. Here is a link:
