All, Hoping for some advice to help make my husband's birthday trip perfect! We're from Oregon & love tailgates/games at Autzen...but want to see the biggest & the best stadiums in the country! Tiger Stadium is the first one on his bucket list and he's obsessed with getting there to see Fournette while he's still playing college ball. Heading there for the S Miss game 10/15 and have read a LOT of different opinions re: best seats. First, what do you think is the best place to sit to get a true fan experience of the stadium? Second, we love our Autzen tailgates and want to get the real experience there, or as close to it as possible. Any ideas for 2 strangers (but fans!) w no connections in the area? Thank you in advance! Renee
Anything in the stadium is great but, Southern Miss you're gonna wanna be in the lower bowl these days for the sisters of the poor games. Just make sure and get there early and walk around campus near the stadium and stop and talk to LSU tailgaters and tell them your story. You will be drunk and fed before you know it and may meet some lifelong friends you never imagined having prior to coming to the stick.
ESPN named Walk-Ons the best sports bar in America. I don't know if it really is but I like the food at the Chimes better.
Go early that day- at least by noon. Just walk around the areas adjacent to the stadium, stop and talk to the people everywhere who are tailgating. Tell them the purpose of your visit and they'll offer you food. They would otherwise but ESPECIALLY given the circumstances. As for tickets, for that game there will be plenty. Don't settle for upper deck. Hang around way after the game and you may get to meet Fournette when he leaves the stadium. You're a dam good wife for doing that btw.
My boss and her hubby went last year to UF game with 2 UF friends. She wore LSU gear, though they are out of Seattle. They had a blast just chatting up tailgaters and telling them where they are from. Her UF buds got razzed pretty good too but still got fed. Golden rule, don't be a stranger. If you smell something unbelievably good, walk right up and tell em your story and how great it is. You will be sampling in no time.
It will be extremely hot that time of year, plan ahead for it. Try to find a tailgate host for the game, it's your best bet for a great time. Ask on a couple sites if you can tag along, someobe will invite you. Try to find a group that is close to your age. If your looking for tickets, try stub hub ahead of time or look on campus early. Wear your teams gear but pull for the Tigers or prepare to endure some good natured grief. If you plan ahead you should have a great time.
As far as seats lower west sideline is best. But I've seen more games in upper south end zone & loved it.
Thanks all for the great advice! Will definitely hit up Chimes & Walk-Ons while we're in town, and thanks for the Boudin tip as well, all the different kinds sound epic. The more we read the more excited we get, can't wait!
