The elevator towers are nearing completion and the high cast-in-place support columns are going up. They are already starting to lift up precast beams. I imagine prefabricated decking sections will be going up in June.

    They just might make it.

Just drove by it the other day and was impressed with how much they had done since I last saw it. They're definitely making progress (finally).

The one thing they are afraid of is that.

If they have all of the Rake Beams in by the end of June, then I would give them a slight chance of making it on time, but that is going to be a tall task.

According to Herb Vincent as reported in the Advocate:

"We are concerned," LSU Associate Athletic Director Herb Vincent said. "We have been concerned from the start. But we have been assured by the contractors that the west upper deck will be (usable) by the first game."

Usable doesn't mean completely finished. Vincent said it is likely the finishing touches will be applied to the deck well into the season. Fans are likely to have to reach west side seats through pathways cut into the construction zone, as they did last season.

When the fog cleared this morning, the forms for the first rake beam were up. These guys are working 24/7.

Rice Stadium in Houston was built from scratch in 10 months! Of course, it didn't hurt that Mr. Brown of Brown and Root was on the Rice board and an alum. However, it proves that great things can be done quickly and with quality.

I'm amazed they have come as far along as they have already myself.

When I came back to Baton Rouge Sunday evening it was a beautiful day and not a soul was to be found at the stadium.
