A question for the voters. How is a 0-1 OU team ranked and a 1-0 TCU team not when they played it out on OU's field? Not being an ass, I am just wanting to hear reasons. I assume people feel if they played 10 times OU would win the majority?
I think the TCU/OU rankings are a prime example of why preseason polls should be done away with. People can assume OU is still a better team, but TCU did all they could by beating them on their own field and they are still viewed as inferior b/c they started out ranked much lower before a single snap has taken place.
I think not. Even a later poll would do the same thing - ranking OU ahead of TCU. Wait & see which team finishes with a better record & more marquee wins. It will be OU. OU may have lost, but that doesn't mean TCU is a better team per se... People who want to do away with preseason polls are idealists & don't consider the fact that starting the polls later changes NOTHING. Be realistic.
