My bad but still not much better. Tigers didn't play very good today but did have a pretty good weekend against an underrated team. UCF is better than some people give them credit for. It was also the first series of the season and on the road. I wish they would have finished stronger but I am in no way dissapointed with the weekend as a whole. We will be even better in the weeks to come and should have a high quality team that competes at a very high level this season.:geaux: :lsug: :D

Faircloth looks like the real deal as a closer. Dirks showed he can pitch. Considering it's the 1st series, I don't have any complaints. I would have loved to sweep but I think Smoke didn't want Bumstead to lose confidence by pulling him before he had a chance to work off the rust. This team will pound the ball this year and I think we'll be right there at the end.

How long have you been following LSU Baseball?

This is the time of the year when you try to find out which players will help you when it really counts ... SEC, regional, super regional and CWS.

If this is your reaction this early in the season, I can't wait to see your reaction when we lose midweek games to in-state schools b/c we experiment with pitchers and backup players.

Clay Harris definitely should have threw the ball home, there was no way they were gonna turn two with Brown running. I think we had a better shot at maybe home to first for a double play, but we for sure could have got the out at home and keep the game alive.

That was the thing that made Skip such a great manager.

He always toyed with the line-ups, pitching etc. etc. throughout the season to see what worked against certain teams, pitchers, etc.

I also believe that there were times when Skip purposely put his team behind the eight-ball to see if they had the heart to believe in themselves as a team enough to fight back to win.

Fortunately the baseball season is long enough that it allows a coach to do this. He just needs to remember what works and what doesn't. I just hope Smoke takes good notes....

Eat a fatty TigerWins, it's not like I'm calling for us to fire Smoke idiot. I'm not freaking out, it's just hard to understand why this high powered offense is so inconsistent. It's not like they haven't played together before.
Whatever, I am really excited about the next four home games win or lose.... I wonder if Horwath has a firm hold on SS, or if Hebert has a shot to earn the job still?

Winning they game today did not matter as much as Bumstead and Faircloth pitching in pressure situations. Bumstead needed to get some work in. I'm happy with the series outcome, even though we probably should have sweep.

True, South Carolina beat Charleston Southern 4-3 on Friday, and 3-0 on Sunday, but on Saturday beat them 38-0! Yes thats right, 38-0.
