Most quality coaches are at some point going to be courted by the NFL. I'm not sure that should dissuade (sp?) LSU from pursuing them. Just add a huge buyout to his contract if you can get him to agree to one. Of course, if you're pockets are as deep as WH, then a buyout price wouldn't matter, but most NFL owners are not willing to throw money around like he does.

    LSU calling?

There's a rumor that LSU might be interested in Del Rio for its head-coaching position if Nick Saban goes to the Miami Dolphins.

Del Rio said he had no knowledge of contact between LSU and his agent but stopped short of saying he wasn't interested. "I don't care to get into speculation," he said.

Del Rio has never coached in college but he was a player and a coach for the New Orleans Saints. His wife, Linda, is from Louisiana.

Note - this is not my rumor, and since it was published in Orlando Sentinel and Fox Sports website I am passing it along. I am simply relaying this info. It is roughly 3 days old, but I have not seen it in any thread.

    1. Ferentz - won't happen
    2. Tedford - won't happen
    3. Spurrier - won't happen
    4. Mike Nolan - won't happen
    5. Bret Bielema - could happen if Skip wants a top coordinator

Auburn Tiger fan here. Bobby Petrino is already a successful head coach. He would be great for the Conference and LSU. Mike Rilley played for the Bear and wanted the Alabama job. He would probably just use LSU as a stepping stone. Nick Saban is a huge lose for the West Division and the SEC. But he proved that LSU can be a force again and left you guys in great shape for another head coach. Your program shoudl get a coach who is already winning at another school. Not a coordinator wannabe. :yelwink2:

Mike Riley twice turned down Bama, so why would he use us as a stepping stone, to turn them down again? I for one hope that he is not on the short list to begin with.
