The kid sounds like a front runner. What is going to happen when times get tough? I would want someone who has the fight to be a champion inside, not for someone just looking to join a winning program. A lot of freshmen come in thinking they are all world, and get a quick dose of reality. You have to be mentally tough, I would rather have a kid who said, "Coach, we will never have less than 8 wins while I am there, cause I will do what it takes."

    It was a Rivals interview.

They are about to pay for everything for this kid. Of course you want to play for a winner, but you don't say that.

I would think a coach would LIKE to know what the parameters are for how to sign a kid. At least this way he's got a benchmark by which to measure himself.

Besides, how is it different than coaches expecting certain levels of performance from their recruits in their senior year? Does the player not have some say in the factors that influence his decision to go to a school?

Good players want to play for a winning programs -- just look at the top recruiting classes each year. And Arizona's not exactly one of them yet.

I see that he's popped up on the screen for a possible recruit for Miami. Now, this type of attitude combined with "The U?" That would make sense to me.

We see characters like this more and more often today. The majority of the time, they end up letting their mouth run and don't have the ability to back it up on the field.

What gets me the most about this?

I consider it a gift/blessing, not a right, for a kid to be able to play at the Div. 1 level. Perhaps my outlook on this is just a case of naivete. I can't help looking at this as it being about a player, not a program. That is a recipe for problems, on and off the field.

I can honestly see this kids motto. "There is no "I" in team, but if you look hard enough you'll find "me."

Better for him to come out and tell the truth rather than claim all along he is a comit and then bolt when thay have a bad season. Top notch kids have the option and want to go to winning programs, nothing new about that. A kid being up front about it is somewhat new and if nothing else at least honest.

I'll have to see if I can find it again. I came across it yesterday linked on another forum. I know it was a rivals.com report...
