Well at least we know you have two things going for you...an ability to predict the future and an overly optimistic view of our team.

    Oh wait...

Dude, I hope you're OK...I'm starting to think you had a stroke or something. It wasn't too long ago that you were a very lucid and logical poster. Now, with this tragic win over Bama and the great luck of high gas prices, I'm wondering what the hell happened!?!

Of course, you might just be liquored up like most here...:hihi:

I KNOW! We should have got a good coach... maybe the urban sprawl that everyone wanted. Oops, he just got his a$$ handed to him by South Carolina.

8-1 probally #4 in the country, on the fast track to the SECCG by a group of coaches that had only HEARD of BR less then a year ago. You're right, we should fire them all!:dis:

While LSU's record is certainly as good as I had hoped, there were quite a few close calls there (two wins in OT, the ASU game) that could have gone either way, irrespective of good/bad coaching in the end. IOW, with the tiniest of changes in the ball-bounce, we could be a four loss team. The coaching would be the same, but the record-based argument comes tumbling down.

Miles is replacing a coach we all grew to have the greatest of confidence in, win or lose. He will have to prove he deserves similiar respect. Every game is an audition. He has often done very well, but has also had some gaffs that made me shudder.

Perhaps there is a learning curve with a new coach in a new environment, and he deserves credit for keeping the wheels from coming off.

But to say he is a one-loss guy, and therefore above reproach, is a bit over the top.

For the record, I remain unconvinced, but I am much less unsettled than I was after the "Ten yard cushion on third and three with noodle arm QB in the game" game.

I guess the best way to put it: I have been a life long Tigers fan. I grew to be a fan of Nick Saban. Will be both for life now, I guess. Miles? We'll see. . .

Reasons why Miles is a bad coach? I got plenty.

    A. First and foremost, the Utenn game was a disaster. The guy doesn't know what he's doing and isn't aware of all the aspects. (how many times has he tried to call timeouts with none remaining, or when he doesn't have to?)

    B. Good friend of mine and fellow classmate @ lsu is a co-trainer/waterboy on the sidelines, usually behind Coach Miles. Says the guy is a dimwit who leans on his staff mostly for answers not taking control himself. This usually leads to miscoordination and bad calls.

    C. Penalties, turnovers, and lack of time management in previous games. All bad coaching.

    D. I dont know if its jimbo or him who's so dumb at times, but the play-calling is a joke. Example? Whenever Hester comes in At FB or slot wideout, they throw to him or run him. Whenever Steltz is in motion to the left side, its a pass, motion to the right its a throw. (these are 2 things my ex-gf calls on the spot)

    E. When you obviously have momentum with the throw, keep throwing instead of bull-moosing it into the brick wall known as the defense. Jamarcus doesnt have to go deep every time but he could use his wide-outs more in the underneith game sort of like ASU did to us.

My point is, you can't judge this coach by one game, even one season as crazy as this one has been with the hurricanes and all. However, his past experience speaks for itself. Lose 4 out of your last 5 at OSU, YOURE HIRED. Blow a 28 pt lead against Utexas? SURE COME ON BOARD.

Take away the 2 sure wins against NORTH TEXAS, and APP state (which will surely take away ANY hope of a title game just like it did to Auburn), and you have a team thats 6-1 that could have easily been 2-5 (ASU was a close win, so was UF, so was Auburn, and now bama).

I love LSU and will always support them (was going nuts when we finally won this one tonight) through thick and thin. However, don't label this coach the next chosen one until he proves himself more.

So far, all he's proven to me is that he can win with the talent he was given against teams who sometimes find a way to lose.

what was that stat they showed during the game? lsu has the most defensive penalties resulting in first downs? yup... great staff...

is lsu still last in the sec in turnover diff?

amazing 5 yard curl routes on 3rd and 10

bad offensive play calling all around... busted plays were our best plays... just goes to show that the talent is what's making the team successful... maybe we should draw our plays in the dirt?

does anyone honestly think lsu would beat texas OR usc?

is lsu still last in penalties and penalty yards?

wasnt there a HORRIBLE break down in punt protection that should have been 6 points the other way?

instead of playing for a touchdown with 1:30 left in the game at the 35 yard line, miles instead opted to settle for a field goal from 50 yards away, well out of chris jackson's range... that's playing not to lose.. not playing to win...

BY THE SAME TOKEN!!! the team IS improving on discipline (penalties, turnovers) which is what my real problems are, but he is FAR from a very good coach as of now.

STILL bad playcalling, STILL called a time out after an INT :( , STILL sent the FG team out before halftime of the UT game instead of just setting and spiking the ball.

He's made too many obvious mistakes this season to be a "very good" coach.

To be honest, I don't think there is any team out there that could beat USC or Texas right now.

I want to add that I think some peole forget what they want to forget. Like in '03. We beat UGA in the regular season on a "busted" play that resulted in a Mauck to Skyler TD. After the game, Mauck admitted that Skyler improvised by just running down field.

Did it ever occur to some of you that at multiple points in a game, EVERY team makes plays, or scores touchdowns with patterns run beyond what was originally drawn up???

    Dumbass..

    Yet, you didn't list any....dumbass.

Yet, we came out in the third quarter and punched bammer in the mouth to tie the game...dumbass.

I have never seen a year where there has been so many dumbasses on this board whining and complaining after FREAKIN wins!! We just beat an unbeaten Bama team that was #4 in the nation in their house. Wake the hell up people. Whether you want to believe it or not, coaching DOES have a little influence on these games. We are 8-1 and control our destiny in the SEC champoinship race. :dis:

If you remember we couldn't say that at this time last year and Saban WAS here.:thumb:

In the beginning of the season, yes. How many times afterwards?

The day I take the WATERBOYS word for anything other than the flavor of the Powerade on the sideline, is the day that I become less informed about football than I ever thought I would....

And the coaches physically are the ones on the field doing all of that? After every game, Miles gets bullsh*t over the penalties. How many times do you have to explain the same thing over and over and over to a player for him to understand it? That's the only thing a coach can do in terms of penalties, but ultimately, it's the players that have to correct it on the field.

Well then, Charlie Weis, I guess you and your girlfriend should pick up some headsets and direct the offense.

Hmmmmm.... Did you watch the game at all?? We DID throw the ball. But you can't abandon the running game all together. You do that, and then you're really in for a mess. That's "Football for Dummies 101".

Didn't know a 24-point win was "close". Perhaps you would prefer Saban's 24-21 win over Troy instead???

And by the same token, let's not be quick to send the man packing until we have a few seasons under his belt. When his recruits are the ones in the starting lineup, then we'll get all the information we need. But you've GOT to let him get that far before calling for his head based on your girlfriend's breakdown of the offense or the waterboy insight.
