Did you ever stop to think the reason we "bull-moose" the ball up the middle is to keep the linebackers honest and to set up the play action pass?

If you just pass all the time, you are going to have about seven defenders covering our receivers. If you have the run, or the threat of the run (set up by the bull-moosing), then when you call the play action pass, you keep the linebackers playing the run inside and only have 3-4 defenders covering receivers.

boston bengal..you are what true college football fans sadly but surely call a "homer".

It pains me that instead of discussing real football you want to resort to jokes to try and get your message across (if there even is one).

You have not directly refuted any of my very real comments on why Les Miles is a bad coach. My point in all of my statements was, that he was not the reason why LSU won the game, it was the LSU players trying to step it up and Alabama falling on their faces.

I'm not charlie weis, nor am i Mike Martz. However, i think i can vouch for many tiger fans when i say that the offensive playbook of LSU is pretty horrible. You want a Les Miles "mishap"? Go watch the end of the Florida/Auburn games and see what a deer stuck in headlights looks like.

I'm pretty sure LSU is worst in the NATION in penalties, one of the worst in the conference in turnovers, and has given the opposing team more first downs off of PENALTIES than any other in the SEC. That, my friend, is a result of bad coaching. These receivers can run all day long, they can throw the ball 80 yards, run the 40 in 4.2 seconds and bench nearly 500 pounds (i watched Kevin Steltz achieve this at my alma mater Rummel), but they can't seem to not hold the other team, jump offsides, cause more foul starts and pass-interferences than any other team in the league.

All the talent in the world needs someone to coach them and show them how to progress. Les Miles isn't directing that and it shows on the field.

If you think Laron Landry would have been able to continue his jaw hammering antics play after play almost causing unsportsman-like conduct in front of a coach like nick saban or pete carroll, you are a fool. However, the great Les Miles looked on with no words.

I sure hope Jamarcus and crew grew up a lot this game, because thats pretty much all the help they're going to get is with each other unless the coaching staff takes a more hands on approach and actually watches gamefilm.

As for the gentleman discussing how a passing style offense is needed with a steady running game, i have a few words. Besides 4 or 5 runs out of the 30+ attempted, it was into a brick wall where only 1 yard was gained and many times yardage was lost. This run was usually on first or second down causing the offense to throw on 2nd and long and 3rd and long where the defense surely knew and anticipated it.

Again, i'm no offensive GENIUS, but most good offsensive coordinators mix up their "runs" with screen passes/dumpoffs/shovel passes and slants/out patterns (similar to that of ASU and many other pac-10 teams). If you ever watch USC and their offense, many of their plays are geared towards short passes with a lot of YAC (yards after catch). This works great with their fast and athletic receivers.

Please don't tell me that some similar sort of offense would not be better than the RUN RUN pass that we so vividly exploit to Defensive juggernauts such as Alabama (#1 in the nation). With the talent we have, we could be using receivers such as Skyler Green (who was not used more than once tonight in the biggest game of the year for LSU) to run all over the opposition.

But surely, running into a wall so we can have 2nd and 10 and then 3rd and 8 is much better.

If you paid any attention to the commentators and their stats, both teams were about 3-20 on 3rd down and +7 yards to go.

    Think about it.

"Didn't know a 24-point win was "close". Perhaps you would prefer Saban's 24-21 win over Troy instead???"

What are you talking about? If you actually read my post, you would have noticed the only games i mentioned about being close were the ASU, UF, Auburn and Bama game, all decided by 4 points or less and in the final minutes/ot.

Funny, i came to this forum as an avid LSU fan and college football debator. Was hoping there werent that many homers who can't see past their love for their own team to actually debate/discuss what goes on in the games.

Then I guess there were parts of both of our posts that the other misunderstood. Because I personally don't consider myself a "homer". Here, "homers" are those that think we have a birth-right to a BCS title game every year since '03 and will bash whatever coach not named Saban, that we have.

But in terms of Arizona State, give us all a break. We went through what can HARDLY be called a "normal opening game".

UF, Auburn, 'Bama...ALL 3 of those were ranked in the top 25. Look around the country, and you'll find that the "norm" is for a game between top 25 teams usually is close, genius.

Whatever, newbie. Make a few more posts here, or read a few more of mine from here on out and I'm hardly a "homer".

Do I need to pull out some of my old posts that show my critisim of some of LSU's play? This thread was directed at those that refuse to be happy with wins.

A "homer", you ignorant dribble are some of those on this forum that feel that anything short of a Rose Bowl victory needs to result in a Les Miles firing (which was the group that the post was directed to).

    Got it, chief?
