If you knew me, you would know i am an avid supporter of the SEC and believe its the strongest conference in the league. My point on the 4 point or less wins over teams like UF, ASU, Auburn and bama wasn't to take away from LSU or the opposing team, but was to show that LSU wasn't a SOLID 8-1 team that DECIMATED its hard opponents. Besides those 4 teams and the Utenn game (which dont get me started on that one), LSU easily beat the rest. All i was pointing out was That LSU could easily be a 5-4 or 6-3 team if we hadn't come away with some luck. I'm just saying that with our players and talent, we should be a better 8-1 team than we are right now. And I believe that is the result of poor coaching and bad play-calling. We would be #3 (ahead of miami) instead of #4 and closer in the BCS had we been a little better coached in our previous wins :]
Ah...OK. So I take it we are 8-1 with wins over Bama, AU, and UF (for the first time ever in the same season) because we have coaches that don't watch gamefilm? :dis: Here are some other interesting tidbits. 1. This is the first time since 1987 that LSU beat two ranked opponents on the road. 2.It was our first win over a top-5 team on the road since 1993 (which happened to be against Alabama - I was there for that game..good times). 3. Coach Miles' 8-1 start is the best for an LSU coach since 1935. Wow...imagine what Coach Miles could get this team to do if he actually watched some gamefilm. :hihi: Look, I am not saying the season has been perfect. But with all the other crap going on this year (new coach, Hurricane, Alley's injury), I would say the coaches have done a great job getting us wins. They may not be pretty, but the number on the left side of the dash in the win-loss column is a lot higher than the one on the right.
well, first and foremost, it's hard for anyone to take you seriously when your first order of business is to call people dumbasses for expressing valid opinions. Granted, the UGA play in 03 was busted... great... one play that worked out well.... NOT NEARLY EVERY PLAY IN A GAME! if bama's offense was any good, they would have sealed that win in the first half... at least three overthrown balls that would have been touchdowns to WIDE OPEN receivers. Im not here to diminish the effort of the team, it was a hard faught and well deserved win. why do you feel the need to call people dumbasses? if you were intelligent enough to get your point across without using profanity, then perhaps I'd take you seriously. Until then, lets work on our vocabulary, okay little buddy?
You vouch for morons is who you vouch for. As for our offense, we're 3rd in the SEC in total offense. (in a conference that has 5 teams in the top 12 in over-all defense).: You're right, it's not showing on the field....and we're still 8-1 Awwwww....did big bad LaRon talk too much trash for you? Well, then, get on him. [/QUOTE] JaMarcus, you twit, ranks 23rd in the nation in passing eff. (and would be a lot higher if not for just the dropped TD passes vs Auburn by Bowe and Early) Thanks for playing though.
Those ranked opponents, is that before or after the season began? In case you didn't know, ASU is now 5-5 and Utenn is 4-5. UF has lost 3 games this year (many vowed they would be a title contender). 2 of those wins were against NORTH TEXAS AND APP STATE. Hell, west monroe could have fought well against those teams. I'm not taking anything AWAY from LSU, i'm simply saying that the coaching and play-calling is subpar and not acceptable given what they are paid and how much talent they have on this team. Hell nick saban took a ROOKIE team last year and put them in the best bowl outside the BCS. Funny, Les Miles gives you a win against a team, and instead of trying to improve on it and show the team's weaknesses and grow, we'll just get drunk and happy with the win.
No. Just fools rushing to fire a head coach that is 8-1. I point out short-comings. I've stated NUMEROUS times that our defense is not a sound tackling group and how they miss a lot of tackles by not wrapping up. I've also discussed how "stupid" (my exact words) it is for a defensive lineman, who's looking right at the ball, to jump offsides. The difference between you and me FightinTIGER is that I don't look solely to the coaching staff when players commit dumb penalties or turn the ball over like you do. Players have to be accountable as well. Also, I can dig up a thread I made after the Tennessee game bashing all over Pelini..... But we've jumped up 93 spots on defense since that game. Time to quit bitch'n don't you think?? I mean, what more does he have to do? He screwed up early on, but the results have improved.
Miles and staff has had this team improving since day one. Improving defense? Check. Improving fundamentals over the last few weeks? Check. Improving play out of Russell, WRs, and RBs? Check. You are on the right track, Saban showed us that wins and loses were not always the most important thing, it was improvement week by week to continue to make the program better. And guess what? Miles and company are doing that. Nick Saban could surely see that, and I am certain he would think any LSU fan who can't see it is quite blind.
Funny, i'm a twit, a moron and an idiot. Is LSU ranked 3rd in total offense including games against NORTH TEXAS AND APP State? yeh it is. Also funny how many sports commentators across the nation seem to have similar beliefs on LSU and their offense. If you are as valid an lsu as you claim to be, then you would most CERTAINLY know that Jimbo fisher has taken heat for MANY years on his run run pass style offense. Go ahead and sit at your house thinking that the LSU offense is similar to that of the colts, but i'm afraid you are greatly mistaken. If I were indeed a coach, and had a lot of respect for the game and its players/institutions like coaches Nick Saban, Charlie Weis, Paterno and Carroll, i would certainly chew out my players for excessive talk and foul language on the field. Oh wait, those coaches do. But Les doesnt. One tends to wonder why we have so many penalties on the field, perhaps its the lack of leadership and accountability? Oh no, couldnt be that. And my comments on Jamarcus Russel were simply sarcasm on how bad the coaching staff is and how Russel would learn much more in a better system such as one that Notre Dame or USC possesses, not on his inability to make plays...you "twit"
Dude, put the beer bottle down because you don't comprehend squat. I NEVER said this game was "perfect". There is ALWAYS room for improvement. My reason for starting this thread was directed at those that instead of saying, "we won, but we still need work on (fill in the blank)...", they simply say, "I hate Miles!" and "Miles sucks!", etc. THAT's who I directed my rant towards. You posted in the thread, so you must have taken offense.
They are improving indeed, that has not been refuted by me. They commited ZERO TURNOVERS this week, that was GREAT. Their penalties weren't that high either, although some of them were costly (such as the blatant pass-intereference by laron landry helping setup a TD..on 3rd and long might i add). However, the play calling and overall leadership of the coaches in CERTAIN situations is lacking. They came out of halftime fired up no DOUBT, and they did what they could to execute and win the game - definately. However, they could have done a lot better and what held them back was the coaching. Sorry but justin vincent can't score a TD when he's sent into a brick wall. How many of you almost creamed your pants when he ran that swing pass for 30 yards down the line. Wish you would have seen it again? Or maybe a few more slants? How about an end around by Skyler Green or a double reverse. Maybe something tricky like how Alabama ran that quick QB draw right out of the timeout. Nope, not as long as Les and company keeps it going, unless they want to look at film a little harder.
