Like I said in an earlier thread: Our run blocking needs work. Tonight we got caught way too many times at the line of scrimmage by outside rushers.
I am just thinking of how many teams in Division I who would kill to have 8 "ugly" wins and 1 loss as opposed to 5-6 pretty wins and 3-4 losses. Look, it is alright to criticize our team's shortcomings. But to make blanket statements that Coach Miles is a "bad" coach and that the coaching staff is "clueless" just does not fit. If we were 5-4, OK. But we are not. And by the way, who cares what sports commentators have to say about Jimbo's offense. Last I checked, we have a :crystal: using that offense, a 9-3 record last year, and are 8-1 this year.
I dislike miles a lot, i don't find him that formidable a coach and wish we had the chance to sign spurrier/urban meyer. However, i do believe the man is doing a decent job and should definately keep it (he is indeed off to the best start as an lsu coach, and could lead us to an SEC title). All my posts are showing is that he is not doing as good a job as he could be doing, and is not getting full use out of his team.
Sorry fellas, but the record is not something im just content with. I could care less if this team was 8-1 or 5-4...its the way they come out to play and how hard the team works to prepare itself for the fans that watch and enjoy the game. Clueless is not the word i mean to use with the coaching staff.. More like...underachieving. Instead of settling for a 50 yard field goal for a kicker/punter who is having a rough night, try and throw the ball and move the chains would ya?
face it, if you have anything to say about miles that isn't, "OH MAN HE"S THE BEST COACH IN THE WORLD AND COACHES THE BEST TEAM EVER" you're going to have idiots making fun of you... instead of saying, "Oh did big bad laron talk too much trash, then you tell him something" they'd say, yeah, that's not very classy and the coaching staff should have told him something... but, if you have no class yourself, I guess it's hard to realize a lack of class when you see it.
I too am a little worried about offensive play calling, but we won a national title under Jimbo, so I don't see why there is any more reason to be concerned about a staff with Jimbo on it now as there was under Saban. All you can ask for is a head coach that can continue to improve his players and his own ability to coach a team. In my opinion, Miles has shown the full ability to improve himself as the year has gone on and improve the players around him. Now if one would argue that we could use a offensive coordinator with Jimbos ability to coach certain positions, such as QB, only with better play calling ability, I am sure you would get almost universal agreement amongst Tiger fans. The question would be where to find such an available coach.
And Meyer could??? Urban's offense has been getting SHREDDED by good SEC defenses and once proud All-SEC QB, Chris Leak is looking like someone out of a Kentucky media guide, not a Florida QB. Spurrier, I'm with you on.....
Apparently you missed the second quarter when we ran a double reverse that went for a big loss. Or did you see the reverse we ran in overtime right before the TD pass? That one got us all of 3 yards but could have been a loss but for X's nice run. See, I think they didn't run more plays like that because they did watch some gamefilm and saw that the Bama defense was quite disciplined and played those types of plays well. But, of course, according to you, we never even run those plays in the first place.
