hello all i am new to the forum so this is my first post, but i've been reading posts here for a while. Well for my first post i would like to say that how are you gonna bash a coach thats in his first year WITH an 8-1 record??? do we not remembers nick sabans first year here? 8-4(losing to UAB by the way, and everyone was saying we need to fire nick saban), then 10-3, then 8-5, all of a sudden he wins the national title and he's a god. rite now les miles is on his way to matching nick sabans best record and we need to fire the guy?? i admit i thought he was an idiot too after the ASU game but its his first year come on, players are learning a new system, and the coaches are trying to get things tweaked. the wins aren't pretty but a win is a win. o yea don't forget all the "life-long" fans of lsu do we really need to go back to the jerry dinardo years?? i mean come on. the lsu football program has only regained its power-house rank in the past 5 years, before that we were pretty god awful, and people are acting like we've been ranked in the top 25 for decades. GEAUX TIGERS (by the way les miles got on my good side when he faked the punt from deep inside our own end zone to get a first in the ASU game, i don't care if it was a stupid play that my friends was BALLS)
Urban Meyer is indeed a good coach. I don't know whats going on down in Florida, but they aren't taking advantage of his system as they should. I'm sorry but UF doesn't have the same type of players/defense that we have. We have players on our team who were on the National title team 2 years ago, UF doesnt. Give Meyer some time or give him a team like LSU has, and you'd see his capability. Want Proof? Watch Utah's old game tapes and see what kind of stuff he pulls. Same stuff Charlie Weis does. Theres a reason why Weis almost beat the best team in the nation.
"Apparently you missed the second quarter when we ran a double reverse that went for a big loss. Or did you see the reverse we ran in overtime right before the TD pass? That one got us all of 3 yards but could have been a loss but for X's nice run." You mean the poorly executed end around plays where the play failed as a result of poor blocking? I watched the entire game and the only two short yardage plays executed CORRECTLY were the Justin Vincent pass along the sideline (setup by the WR block) and the Two QB draws (one led by joseph addai's blocking). My point is, instead of running into a brick wall and gaining 1-2 yards, try PRACTICING and executing short yardage plays where your receivers can make plays happen. That in turn sets up your long ball and can even help the running game because of the linebackers having to worry more about the receivers hurting you. With Joseph Addai AND alley broussard out, you can't run the ball 20 times a game into a wall hoping it will help your passing game. The only reason why that passing attack worked tonight was because the o-line gave russel ENORMOUR amounts of time to throw the ball, not to mention the great catches made by receivers such as Bowe and Davis.
Just so I understand you, are you saying it is the players' fault for not getting the coach's system? If the players (or his assistant coaches) are not getting his system, isn't that a result of Urban's lack of coaching?

First off, Nick saban put together bowl seasons with not the same talent that Les Miles deals with today. It took Saban years to build this program into a contender and Les Miles is having the luxary of falling into such a program. This is the 2nd time i will say this but i will say it again: I could care less if the team was 8-1 or 5-4, its all about how the team comes out to play, if they are prepared, lively, hungry to win and emotional - happy that God gave them the ability and opportunity to do what many only dream they could (play football @ lsu...in the SEC even). Les Miles and his coaching staff (again this is not JUST les miles, but his coaching staff as well) are not preparing their guys well enough to get all they can out of them. This team should be a more solid 8-1 team than they are now. Thats all im saying.
You're right! Because the last time I attended practice to check on the team, Miles had everyone huddled around and he was reading them all a bedtime story. There was no practicing going on at all! I mean, Miles was HORRIBLE! I mean, EVERYONE knows for a FACT that they don't work on short-yardage in practice....
Sorry, I'm saying that the coaches of florida are not using his offensive system as they should, not the players. All in all though, its not florida's offense that is lacking, its their defense. Can't let South Carolina and Bama score 30+ on your team and expect to win against their defensese.
I have enough class to realize that a college football field isn't the place for trash talking and that the man responsible for those players should be correcting them when they do something wrong.
Let the game speak for itself BostonBengal. They sure practice running into a brick wall well enough, cuz they did that mighty fine tonight. Again, i give major credit to the o-line and russel/receiver core for making great throws in the second half to win the game. But we should have won that game 24-10, not 16-13 in ot.
