At night time here in Charlotte, NC I can catch WWL 870 out of New Orleans, but just barely. Shame on you for leaving that game early!!!! I listened to Hawthorne and Doug trying to hear through the static in my truck for the entire almost 4 hours. ( I brought snacks ) What in the hell has happened to the LSU fanbase? I say its a combination of things. You have all these rich folks buying up the season tickets, making it almost unaffordable for those of us who sat throught the Hurricane game bludgeoning. Now all you have a large contingent of fairweather fans who leave because there wife is cold? Leave her at home or tell her about the heater in the damn car. You better have a wife that knows to either bring a blanket or leave her at home. A true Tiger fan has a wife that is a true Tiger fan. There are plenty of fans who would gladly take her ticket!! Also, The student section has been cut in half. I remember sitting in the student section cheering my a$$ of in a loss to Colorado State. And we didnt care... A good half o those guys are there for the longhaul. (Many without shirts for all you weather complainers. Man up Sissy!) Its just a much smaller contingent. You have gotten soft LSU fans. What happened to the Tiger FAITHFUL? It has been painful watching this season on tv. All the boos for a freshman qb. Seriously? This possible 10 win season is such a disappointment!! Are you kidding me? Do you remember the last 30 years of LSU football? WTF is wrong with you people? Get your heads out of your @$$es and CHEER for your team. Stay with them for the ENTIRE UGA beating. You are becoming a disgrace to us misplaced tigers, at least to this one. You know what else? Saturday night in Death Valley, LSU displayed that they have learned to win without you. You are killing that grand old stadium. You are sucking the magic from her soul, you selfish ba$+ards. You bleed red. Don't ever claim purple and gold again. Sell your tickets. As proved Saturday night.... we don't need you.
People leaving early is a mystery? Lets recap. LSU played like dog chit for 3 quarters and losing 31-3 against a lower tier school at home. LSU's opponent was crappy OOC team. Bone chilling temps and wind.
if you would have been downing some hot chocolate and screaming from the top of your lungs all game, you would have been warm like me and my wife and the crazy guys wearing t-shirts and shorts
People left because the team was losing big and flat as a pancake; the cold weather made the decision a lot easier. The weather WAS COLD. I suspect a lot who came out earlier in the day to tailgate were fooled by the "not so bad temperature" during the day when the sun was out. The wind chill which was quite bad early in the morning around 7am seemed to have come down during the day. A thin windbreaker would have been fine during the day, and totally insufficient during the game. So, I can understand why some people had to leave.
wrong. i live in oklahoma and thought i was prepared for cold weather, dressing like i would for a cold game here. and i still froze my ass off. true, and true. i did. i heard of people around me even during the comeback when it looked like things were changing say they couldnt take the cold anymore. i was on the east side and that wind was cutting through me, even with three layers and a heavy coat on. my ears were hurting in the first quarter, with a cap and hooded sweatshirt on. i was colder saturday night than i was for the arkansas game last year. i really felt sorry for people who had on far less than i did and i dont blame them at all for leaving. winning or losing. it was that freakin cold.
I can see where it really got cold, particularly after what, 50 large in people left after the first half? That is a lot of body heat heading for the gates. I do get it though, folks that live in commonly hot elements just tend to get cold easy. Same people do not have much experience dressing properly for cold weather likewise. The fans I saw remain were dressed well with exception of the painted up, shirtless fans. I used to be cold weather stupid too till I spent my first winter in Europe. Leather is not the answer.
That mentality might have been appropriate 20 yrs ago, but the game has changed so much then. With scholarship limitations, wide open offenses, ect, 'inferior' teams are able to compete. I'm not saying they should win these games, but I remember the elite teams used to win be 50+ win playing cupcakes. You just don't see that anymore. With the rash of upsets here recently, (ULM-BAMA, App St-MICH ect), it really doesn't matter what the score is if you get the W. If LSU were to win every single game on their schedule by only 3pts, it wouldn't be pretty at time; especially when playing OOC teams, but they would still be NC at the end of the year.
I go to games to be entertained and enjoy the evening. That first half was not entertainment and bone chilling cold did not make anything fun. It reminds me of my first major league baseball game at Candlestick park. It was a warm spring day. My shipmates and I wore thin short sleave shirts. When the sun sent down and the wind came in off the bay it was bone chilling. The decison was do I spend $7.00 on a wind breaker or suffer. As a US Navy seaman, just out of bootcamp, i was making $78.00 per month. I was young and tougher then so I suffered through it.
People behind me had to leave at half time b/c their ten year old daghter was freezing. They forgot to pack her jacket and she was too young to have a shot of whiskey ! The dad anguished over leaving. I'm not saying people wouldn't have still left early but the cold played a part in it. NOTE TO FANS: At the beginning of the season pack two bags, one for rain the other for cold. Leave both bags in the vehichle you are most likely to take to the game. That is all.
