The stadium was full before the game? Really? Fuller than at half, but not full. Paid attendance is not actual attendance. People love (or at least like) LSU, so they still try to make it to the game for a little fun. It does not change the fact that they don't care about Troy. I promise you they had more people there interested in seeing Jordan Jefferson play than seeing the Trojans. No doubt some knew they would only go for a half. That's what a lot of people do when they're with people who aren't normally with them. But others left because it was freezing, boring or awful (or all of them combined for about 3 quarters). And I already mentioned those that hit the gates early when Georgia went up by three scores. Those are the true fairweather fans because there was still like a quarter left when they first went up by three scores. But that wasn't nearly as many fans as in the Troy game. And for the person saying that LSU has learned to win without the fans...it was still Troy. Troy lost in UL Monroe's house and I think it's safe to say that UL Monroe does not pack em' in. Apparently a team does not need many fans to beat Troy. But there were some LSU fans left at the end of the game and those are the ones that make most of the noise even when it is packed.
Europe is cold??? I took my family 36 hours straight north out of Baton Rouge to start my USAF career 10 minutes south of Santa Claus' house (told my little girls so they would go with me!). That town would be Grand Forks ND. Think mosquitoes are big in LA????? Our mosquitoes are served as Hors Doovers to the bugs up there. Winter stops on May 31st, and starts again on Sept 1st, don't let anyone tell you there are 4 seasons. Vacation brochures in ND advertise beaches on lakes in Nebraska to "get away" from the winter weather. When they hunt ducks, which they do in September, they have to lay under burlap sacks because there is no where to hide! All the women over age 16 are 6' plus and weigh 195 or more and they really are not fat. They have electric boxes in the mall parking lot to PLUG IN YOUR CAR! The cars are not electric, it is to keep your oil from freezing even though you will only be in the mall 30 minutes. How many coonasses out there know what a "BLOCK HEATER" is?? They have machines in your house to put HUMIDITY IN THE AIR!!!! When I sat alert on B-52 bombers in the winter that started on Sept 1st, we had to charge the aircraft batteries everyday, it was so cold in that plane I could go back home, get in my freezer, shut the door and warm up!!! Enough.............you get the point.:geaux:
Seriously guys....are you kidding me? Do I need to pull a Jim Mora and substitute the word "cold" for "playoffs"...or pull an Allen Iverson and substitue "cold" for "practice"? IT'S NOVEMBER! IT'S FOOTBALL WEATHER! IT'S FOOTBALL SEASON! IT'S THE NEXT TO LAST HOME GAME OF 2008! THERE IS A CHANNEL THAT SHOWS WEATHER FORECASTS 24/7! THEY MAKE JACKETS, FLEECES, ETC. FOR SITUATION SUCH AS THESE! We are LSU, and we have the most passionate fans in the nation. Those fans should not leave due to cold weather and they didn't (as has been referenced)...they left right before getting one more boo in aT J. Lee or at the entire team running into the locker room at halftime. I can't believe this thread has gotten this long but I am glad that it has. Maybe some folks will take a long hard look in the mirror and think twice next time before leaving at halftime and....booing your team! Win or lose!!! Hypothetical....I am a 4 or 5 star recruit watching the LSU game or the highlights on one of the networks or ESPN. What stands out more...a miracle comeback or the fact that out of 92,000+ there might have been 15k fans left at the end of the game and the team was bood leaving the field at the half? Face it...this perception that has been formed of us (myself included) will do nothing but hurt our program because the opposition (ie the Alabamas, the Floridas, the Georgias, etc.) will point to that perception. We all know dirty recruiting exists....particularly with Urban Cryer. So what if you bought the tickets and have the right to leave whenever you want but don't jeopardize LSU's future by not supporting your team! Geaux Tigers!!!
I made a few TDY's to the radar station at beautiful, downtown Cavalier ND. I tried to schedule them during the summer season in July.
I was in my house watching the game on Tiger vision, spent 35 bucks to do it and I left at half time. Went to my play room and played some Guitar Hero. Did return to see the 4th quarter. I wasn't fairweathered just bored.
Listened to it on the net, every painful minute and then every wonderful comeback score. I threatned to pull some schollies :sob: ( not that I could ) and then later I cheered and would have bought the whole crew a Hum Vee. When I was feeling pretty low about our teams chances, a very nice lady told me she jinxed Troy and we would win. She said this mid 3rd Qtr when it looked pretty bad. I laughed at her but it worked. I wont laugh at that gris gris anymore!
