Fair enough, I just don't think a couple hours out of the day is going to make that big of a difference in his work at LSU. Facing his former players shows how to be a stand-up man, taking responsibility for his actions, which provides a great example for his current players.
Miles would have ben villified for not trying to go back and talk to his players, as many OSU fans and media people were already starting to do before they found out the reason he didn't was because of Gundy. Frannie still takes hits from media reps and posters all around the country for not meeting with the Bama players. Instead of thinking it doesn't shed good light on LSU by having Miles trying to meet with his former team I belive it does shed good light on Miles and LSU. Since Saban left before their bowl game I am sure he had many opportunities to meet with them before then, does anyone know if he did or was allowed to?
If I remember correctly, Saban met with his players and coaches to tell them he is taking the LSU job. Then he boarded the TAF plane and flew here for the press conference. As for Miles going back to Stillwater ... as I understand it, his family was still there and he went back to get them and tie up loose ends. While he was going to be there, he wanted to visit with his former team to say goodbye and probably explain his decision, which is a classy move. I can't imagine what harm would have come to OSU to allow a 15 minute meeting with the team.
To me, this was about as classless an act of insecurity and jealousy as Shula's changing the name of the Croom Award at Bama. Gundy was everybody's pick to be hc when Miles was hired and the only reason Gundy stayed at OSU was because Miles was all but forced to hire him as OC. They have never gotten along and Gundy has always held a grudge that he wasn't hired earlier. This was nothing more than a cheap shot on Gundy's part! :geauxtigs
Not to stray too far off-topic of bashing that dope at OSU, but Shula changed the Croom Award?? That takes some nerve, huh!??!!
