I always take earphones to listen to Jim Hawthorne at the games. During the HUGE defensive stand in the Second half I would turn the volume all the way up and sqeeze my headphones, but to no avail...Jimbo could NOT be heard over the crowd. What is so remarkable about this is I was in the 600 level. I cannot imagine what it was like on the field. I am not trying to rub it in to those who were not able to be there, but it was definately one of those life altering moments. A friend called me immediately after the game and I told him the that I was speechless. All I could do was scream and give thanks to God. It was like the win over Florida in '97 X 1,000,000. I guess even now it hasn't totally sunk in yet.
Sitting in section 109.row 30, I thought it was loud but it was hard to tell since I was screaming my lungs out. For the most part OU fans were very gracious, but they obviously did not expect to lose. The tailgating before the game was something to see,and as much as they tried to act like they were not impressed, the OU fans were stunned. LSU fans were hospitable and there were even a few OU people in the middle of the HATTS party(what a party!). Where are we going next year for the title? Is it Miami? I worked down there for a few years. Could be fun.. TIGERS; National Champions!!!!!!!
Loud ???? it was loud. I have lost my voice. The most unbelievable game i have ever seen and i know thats because we won the title. I am shot. OU got loud when they got back in it but the tiger faithful answered the bell. I guess we out numbered the 70 to 30 if i had to guess. We sat in their section, actually right next to it but we had sooners all around us they were really cool. This couple had their daughter with them a red headed fire ball about 12-13 i guess, she gave us hell all night, we scored and she stuck her toung out at me, lol. OU has great fans they congraulated us we shook and that was with the 1:30 to go in the game. Awsome experience hope i get my voice back soon so i can talk about it, lol
One of those USC fans made it on the jumbo tron with a sign proclaiming USC the real national champions. Whatever loser.
I saw a few USC fans. I would just ask them, "So where will ya'll be keep your national championship trophy? Oh wait, you don't get a trophy because you're not the National Champions!!!" They just looked at me realizing that they were FAR too outnumbered to say anything.
This was my last game as a member Tigerband, and I can say that this was the most intense and electrifying game I have ever witnessed. I was trembling from excitement so much that it was a miracle that I could march in a straight line for pregame. The noice from the 40,000+ LSU fans equaled the noise from the 92,000+ Georgia game (the first one). One of our trombone players had a decimal reader at the game, but I don't know what the results are. I wonder if we were able to break it?? Its nearly a day later and I still have no voice. I screamed my guts out. FYI for NCAA Football 2005 video game: EA sports recorded several shots of Tigerband cheering "E-A Sports! Its in the Game!! GEAUX TIGERS!!!" Hopefully they will use them.
We were so high up in the dome they let us work off our drinks by changing the light bulbs during halftime. Awesome experience to see my TIGERS win their NC. I'm not sure how loud the dome was b/c I didn't shut-up long enough to listen. Hopefully I'll get my voice back soon. Oh yeah, about thos OU fans. Classy people. The fans are what makes a good program great. :geaux:
I sat about 20 rows up from where the tiger team ran out onto the field. It was hard to hear our band playing, but NO ONE sat down longer than 1minuhte. My voice isnt totally lost but it kinda cuts out every couple of words....They ran out of water, i think because it got so hot some people had to stop drinking. Cops came in on horses towards the end and they kept warning us not to get on the field, I would say it was about as loud as the first georgia game...same vibe exactly. OU fans were also congratulating us as we left. The had a good turn out, I will admit they surprised me. But what i want to know is who's idea was it to set off fireworks INSIDE the dome?? There were several buildings that were lit up in purple and gold when we got outside after the game, that was pretty cool. Poydras street was shut down which was probably a good idea since the LSU fans were dancing in the street. I would say the loudest screams came at the end, but also in that first minute when LSU almost scored right away, People started jumping on seats, throwing drinks in the air...it was crazy!!!! I think they even announced one time to please not throw drinks on the field but that happened toward the end of the game. IT WAS SOOO MUCH FUN! I took some pictures and i will put them up soon, but right now i just want to lay down. I would like to know what they were saying on tv though.
