Mingo is not undersized for an OLB, maybe for a MLB, but not an outside guy, with his speed if he could pick up the technique of the OLB position he could be a good one......he remionds me ALOT of jevone Kearse when he came out. If he can play OLB with his ability to rush off the end....he could be something special in the NFL.

That's what I've thought, LSU Dad and I have gone back and forth about this all year. Of course part of that reason for me is selfish, because I would LOVE to have both ried and logan back again. The one I was really hoping for was Minter.....looks like LSU's well kept secret is now spreading like a juicy rumor!! As much as I would love to have Minter back, I wish him nothing but the best. The one talking about declaring for the draft that is a bit surpising to me is Simon....I really think he would be better served with one more year to sharpen his skills.

For a 3-4 OLB, he is undersized(Note that this is not about 4-3 LBs). Look at the following:
    -James Harrison: 6' 242
    -DeMarcus Ware 6'4" 254
    -Calvin Pace 6'4" 265
    -Anthony Spencer 6'3" 250

    -Barkevious Mingo 6'5" 240
    -All from espn.com

Mingo, despite being taller then all, weighs less than all. And I'm willing to bet he's not 240. Jevon Kearse was a great 4-3 rush end, and that's a very apt comparison. At 6'5", Mingo's probably the tallest a 3-4 OLB could possibly be, but at that height and 240, he's a bean pole compared to those other guys. He won't be able to get leverage on the bull rush and will get pushed around for lack of strength and size from a 2-point stance in the NFL.

Right, but so many teams need a QB, there's no shot none of them would take a chance on Barkley in the first round. I'm a very minor Chiefs fan, and I'd rather see them take him than Geno Smith in the 1st round. The Chiefs are dying for a QB, and many other teams are struggling with OK quarterbacks. I just don't see him getting out of the first round, even if a team w/ a great veteran QB(e.g., Denver) picks him up to groom him for the future like the Pats took Mallett a few years ago.

    Von Miller 6' 3" 240lbs ranked #7 in nfl
Patrick Willis 6' 1" 240lbs Ranked #1 in NFL doesn't get much better than that!
Ray Lewis 6' 1" 240 lbs ranked #2 in NFL
    Lawrence Timmons 6' 1'' 234lbs ranked #3 in NFL
    Lance Briggs 6' 1" 244 lbs ranked # 10 in NFL

at 6' 5" 240lbs.....i see him easily being able to put on 15 lbs and not lose any speed.

None of those are 3-4 OLBs. You're comparing him to a bunch of MLBs and 2 4-3 OLBs. My argument is only with regards to Mingo as a 3-4 OLB, which is why I only listed 3-4 LBs. Furthermore, even if we were to compare them, note all the heights.

If he's undersized to be a 3-4 linebacker, how could he possibly hope to have success as a 4-3 DE?

For starters, you generally don't have to cover the pass as a 4-3 DE. He'll be using a 3 or 4 point stance instead of 2. There's also his experience there.
