there wouldn't have been a penalty for being downfield because the ball was caught behind the line of scrimmage.. it was a screen pass..
Penalties were quite crucial in the game. Brought back a lot of yardage and gave them some 1st downs. Maybe the refs saw the SC thugs video and thought we were mean or something. :dis:
A team can only have 7 players on the LOS. The call should have been illegal formation, since there were 8 on the line. Either way, the play would have come back. GEAUX TIGERS
If i was a coach i would have anyone that got a penalty running extra laps after practive unless as a coach i determined it was a bogus call. But the players would soon learn that penalties are not acceptable. I would gather the whole team in a meeting and replay tyson jackson slamming the qb in the head twice and ask him repeatedly if him being stupid and selfish was worth it. Why would he do that? I still cant understand what made him think that was ok? And dont tell me in the heat of battle because it was intentional and highly visable. Terrence toliver penalties were just as stupid. He didnt need to push off on the long pass play. And if you have your head in the game you know where to line up. I would be curious if he lined up in practice that way when running the play? Why didnt someone ask that question? Bottom line is our receivers are no where near as good as last year with doucet out and Matt Flynn has not been sharp either. To be honest i know Flynn has been hurt but he doesnt make as good of decisions as i thought he would this year. And the interception that led to them tieing the game was just a horrible throw.
