actually, the numbers are staggeringly similar to what the guy we just fired did against cupcake defenses last year.
and his numbers against good defenses are also staggeringly similar.

we're currently paying the guy who did it last year close to $10 million to never coach us again.

and they're also pretty similar to what he did in 2013 in the same situations using a Lane Kiffen offense.
the same Lane Kiffen that is reportedly at the top of his OC list.

which one are you referring to? I was at both.

the one in '04 where Nick Saban needed his defending National Champions to come from behind to beat Troy.
the one in '08 where Les Miles needed his defending National Champions to come from behind to beat Troy.

the '08 was cold as fuck!

The biggest number that would be different would be the score. How many times did we blow out rkansas and ole piss under miles. Not many

Don't think I am in the same mind set here as that other dude you are arguing with. Do I think O is a home run hire, no. I do think he is a guy who love LSU will out recruit anyone in the country and with the right OC and line could be special. I just think jimbo is not worth a 7 mil price tag. Frankly his achievements are very similar to the guy we just fired as well. He has been pretty average with out winston over there. I question if he can get it done here and I see the price tag as way way way to much.

I was at both as well but I was referring to the most recent on under miles. Short of the cluster in new orleans there were few games that i have left feeling as crappy about LSU than that one. The fact that we had to comeback against troy was tough to swallow.

the last time either of them had defenses as bad as they are this year was Ole Miss in 2011.
and it was a blow out.

if your HC is 100% dependent on his staff being elite, he's not the right guy.

You mean to tell me your HC is the end all be all? Nothing to do with Coordinators or position coaches? So the HC coaches everyone. BS, so your saying our D looks the same under miles with the two headed monster vs pellini vs chavis vs aranda? HC have the final say but position/coordinators keep you in power long term and keep you of the hot seat.

I get what you saying but again there are very few coaches out there right now that are "elite" in their own right and therefore deserve a 7 mil salary. Jimbo isn't one of those IMO. I think the only one that we could get at this point is up in washington, and I don't see him leaving now.

I remember one drive when our running game had been sucking where we ran it almost every down and drove the length of the field. That was some stubborn Les Miles shit right there. It worked, but I was having flashbacks.

not what I'm saying at all. every HC relies on his staff.

with Saban, he can overcome a not-elite DC and still produce a stout defense.
with Meyer, he can overcome a not-elite OC and still produce a damn good offense.

with O, he needs BOTH coordinators to be elite to have a shot.
elite coordinators don't just grow on trees where you head down to the farmer's market and pick up a new one when the other guy takes a HC job somewhere.

You were ok with Les? He didn't specialize in shit. The offensove lines often sucked and his offensive brilliance got his ass fired. O at least knows defense.

as a game day coach? no not really. I wasn't as down on the guy as most people here until late in his run when the rabbit's foot fell out of his ass.

but since we have an opening and the money, I'd prefer getting a guy based on previous results rather than hopes and dreams.

At least he recruited Winston and developed his talents. Can you name Les's signature QB recruit?
