Exactly, I don't want to be his 2nd option. Id rather beat him while he is at his 1st option in 2019.
Herman isn't "proven", but neither is Eaux. Herman is hot shit right now, Eaux is our shit. Both have distractions, but one is higher profile than the other. Don't feed the trolls. All Eaux had to do was beat UF. Running up the score against lesser opponents doesn't mean shit when you lose the big ones.
Looks like Coach O has made quite the name for himself too. Not on Hermans level but he has definitely shown he can motivate and manage. We know he can recruit, so let's get him a good OC and let him rip. I know he had some screw ups along the way, conservative gameplan against Bama, poor play calling and clock management against Florida, etc........but he has proven he can learn from mistakes and improve. The dude Isn't perfect but he is most definitely a formidable hire given the current situation. If it doesn't work out, I promise there will be another Tom Herman here soon.
Was Archer a HC somewhere prior to LSU? I thought he was an emotional pick by the outgoing guy. I'm sure the players backed that move. Sounds more like Eaux. I like Eaux and I wouldn't hate Eaux as coach, but he's not a sure thing either, plus if he fails it will make LSU look even weaker.
How many of Houstons recruits are NFL bound? How many 4*/5* players does Houston have on roster? How many ESPN Top 100/200/300 players does Houston have on it's roster vs. LSU's? You have to remember Houston is not loaded with the pure talent that LSU is.
It's interesting, to say the least. But these agents make HCs look so mercenary, it's impossible to tell if they really want to be anywhere.
