I never thought that Ritter's crew was any worse than any other SEC referee crew. They tend to protect the national championship contender. Since both of these teams are contenders, I expect a good refereed game. The spotlight is on them and any bad calls are going to be shown again and again, like the bad call on Peterson's interception in 2009. SEC refs are still sensitive about that. So are BamaFans.
All true. And none of it an excuse for the officiating product the SEC produces year after year. What really chaps my azz about this is the SEC has all the money and resources in the world to turn their officials into a first-rate unit, a model for the entire NCAA. The SEC is fully aware of the reputations their officials have acquired going back decades, they simply don't care. The Big 12 is open about their policy of having an NFL official review their officials' game performances. What does the SEC do? Nobody knows. What does the SEC do to discipline crews that do a poor job? Aside from the occasional, rare suspension like the UF/Arky game a couple of years ago, nobody knows. Standard operating procedure is to circle the wagons when any controversy arises and heavily fine coaches when they dare to speak out. It all stinks of an organization protecting cronies.
It has always been Alabama / auburn favoritism with sec refs. Every team in the sec has complained about it. Now that lil dicky Nicky is coaching in gump heaven, you can bet half of the refs there would get on his nuts if they had the chance. Any ref from alabama is completely incapable of being objective when officiating a game involving an Alabama team.
What people are suggesting here is that the SEC refs have had a tendency (perhaps subconsciously) to favor calls for the SEC team that is most likely to advance to a national championship. With both of these teams ranked in the top 2, they are both obvious contenders for the championship and refs have no conference bias to exercise. They damn sure do if the outcome is affected by a bad call as in 2009.
It will be like that again this year. Lsu has not had as many penalities this year as in years past. That won't matter. You can count on a block in the back call on lsu every time we return a kick, a holding call on critical third down conversions, pass interference when bama misses a third down conversion pass and several roughing penalities. These officials make judgement calls favoring who they want to win. They want bama to win. I would love to know how many of these mudderfloppers working the game Saturday are fricking gump bitches from the great chithole of Alabama.
Oh ... so they're not crooked ... Just incompetent and not well supervised --> which means they do what they want without recourse ... which is being "subject to payoffs, cheating, etc" ... so you'd never know if they're on the take or not We have the CHALLENGE Miles ain't gonna take too many Bullshight Calls before he starts calling for reviews
