I hear you and agree that they only hear positives from their friends/family. But the NFL has a group of guys (former scouts) who supposedly tell these guys where they will really be drafted. It amazes me that a kid like Trai would ignore them and come out TWO years early. They have one shot at this.

I think we're all missing the point --- It's not about "what round" they get drafted in....

    It's GET DRAFTED

Get a signing bonus (doesn't matter how big)

    Make the team

    Make $400K or more

Being drafted is not always the best thing if it is in the late rounds. Some targeted free agents have a decent signing bonus and often make either the team or the practice squad. They are more often recruited by teams. Turner may be one for the practice squad as he is known as a very good run blocker but needs work on pass blocking.
I think he would have been better off with another year. However with Stud as OL coach he may have felt it wasn't worth the risk. May be with Grimes in he can change his mind if he hasn't been signed by an agent.

I think he had to make that call by the 15th. Pretty sure that ship has sailed.

I thought they could change their minds as long as they hadn't signed or taken any money.

Idk, I think it is that way for basketball but for some reason not in football. Hope I'm wrong and he can but I think once you say you are in and the deadline passes then you are in. Maybe someone that knows can clear it up.

Nah, he can't come back now no matter what. But he didn't leave because of Stud anyway, he left because he wants to be football player only and of course wants to get paid.

The young St Aug guys that I work with told me they knew he was going to declare months ago. Said he hated having to go to class and study while also having to watch so much film and practice.

I can see that being a problem for some of these guys, heck I hated having to go to class and study myself while working a couple of jobs too. It's not easy, but I didn't have an opportunity to maybe play in the nfl so I didn't have that influence.

Good luck to the young man, I hope he makes it.
