Good luck to Coach Johnson at TCU.

Johnny Jones would probably be my first choice just because he has ties to LSU. I doubt seriously that we will get Shaka Smart to leave VCU. Money does talk but the difference in lifestyle between making a half million and 1.5 isn't all that different.

I'm wondering what people think about Johnny Jones. He played for Dale Brown and was one of his assistants for a while (I think) and he seems to want to coach here. Wasn't he a candidate when Alleva hired Trent?

I don't think we have a Chinaman's chance of having a marquee hire. Maybe a young NBA assistant that can recruit and needs HC experience.

I don't know. It'll be interesting to follow this process.

His record at North Texas isn't going to blow anybody away. But after the last 4 years with Trent I'm not sure shelling out huge money to get a big name coach with no regional ties is the way to go either. Priority #1 for whomever we hire has to be fixing our recruiting problems, followed by getting the fans to buy into the direction he's taking the program.

I think Johnny Jones would be a good hire. He's an LSU guy, and I think that might attract fans.

Johnny Jones still carries Lester Earl baggage. The tie is inevitably going to come up if he is a serious candidate. I like the guy...hope he clears that hurtle.
