Bingo. Burton Scott was doing the same thing last season and Oklahoma basically canceled his trip for him. They let Julio Jones and other uncommitted recruits come but Burton Scott (who had already committed to us) was told to stay home.

95% take trips just to take them. However, I suspect Scott's case is a little different than Richardson's.

“I talked to Russell Shepard about it too,” Richardson explained. “I told him how I committed to Alabama and he said he still wanted me by his side and the coaches were still interested in me.

“With me still taking a visit to LSU, I do not know what kind of commitment you would call it,” Richardson concluded. “Who knows, maybe before it comes time to sign my name Alabama will take another running back or something and I’ll change my mind.”

I am pretty sure Bama will be taking another RB in this class, I may be wrong. Doesn't look like this kid did enough research before committing.

He was told they are only taking one pure RB.

Miles' still has his eyes on the prize. I guess he has relieved all doubt about the possibility of taking only 2 RBs this class.

"I know there are good players in this area," Miles said. "I know there is one not too far from here that we will definitely recruit, and as with every recruiting class we need to have some great players. Certainly we're looking for a strong tailback in this class."
Miles was referring to Escambia High's Trent Richardson, considered to be one of the nation's best running backs. Richardson committed verbally to Alabama on Monday. All verbal commitments are non-binding, however.
"I don't have any idea about commitments to other folks," Miles continued. "We're thrilled to be in Pensacola visiting with the people who support us, and I promise you we're going to recruit this state and this city very strongly.
"We don't have an established, big-time tailback with the loss of (Jacob) Hester, a 1,000-yard back who averaged 17 carries a game. So, we're looking to replace that guy, and certainly in this recruiting class, that will be a key take. Again, we're looking for a great tailback."

Richardson is the only RB we'd take left in this class.

Although Bama is hard after Ford, he's solid.

Well he is 50% committed to Bama I guess. Really match up exactly the way RS described it a few weeks back. Still going to be a tough pull.

Alabama fans may not like this, but Richardson doesn't sound like he's done with this recruiting process just yet. Plenty of schools -- like Florida and LSU -- are still in hot pursuit. He is camping today at Florida before heading for the same at Alabama on Sunday. He still intends to take visits before signing in February.
"It's still kind of open, but I'm kind of moving to Alabama a little bit," Richardson said. "I had to make my commitment, though, because I didn't want to be the running back that's left out."
I asked him to put a percentage on his pledge to Alabama. He thought about it and replied, "Probably about 50 percent."
Probably about 50 percent?
Well ... "My mind is set with Alabama right now," he said. "That's a place I could see myself winning a championship."

Good information. He sounds like he is still open and a soft commit. I would rather him almost any place else besides Bama. Even if he goes to Florida it would be better for us. We won't always play the Gators every year, but we will play the gumps every year. First we have to win the SEC west, then we play for the SEC title. Finally, emotionally I just don't want to lose to Satan, I mean Saban. I almost want us to get him as much to keep him away from Bama as for us to have him, if you know what I mean.

I believe Florida is our team from the East that stays on our schedule, so will will see him every year either way.

Yes tboy we play UF every year as well and if you think about it that way if he goes to UF we could possibly face him twice a year if we both make it to the SECC game.
