The buyout could be a problem if it's ironclad (no "if's and buts" in there) but don't think for a second that Tubby forgot about the shaft job they tried to pull on him a couple years ago.
Because his ego will get too big to turn it down if, in fact, officially offered the Miami gig. And don't let Miami's 1-2 start and losing what? 4 of their last 6? They have talent there. Lots of it. Miami's problem is that the inmates are running the asylum there. Coker is NOT the tough, no-nonsense coach that Miami and their never-end boat of thugs needs. Plus, unlike Auburn, if Miami goes 13-0, do you really think they would be left out of a national championship game???
By the looks of things...It might be going from self-employed to unemployed cause it ain't doin to goo da job. Recruiting in a state with Florida, Florida St. & "Up and rising" UCF ain't no picnick. 2006........THE ONES THAT GOT AWAY QB Pat Devlin (de-committed and going to Penn State), RB C.J. Spiller (FSU, UF or Clemson), RB Emmanuel Moody (silent commit who later picked USC when Dan Werner left), OL Marcus Gilbert (Florida, didn't take visit), C Kevin Perez (desperately wanted a UM offer early but when it didn't come he committed to Georgia), WR Percy Harvin (Florida), WR Vidal Hazelton (USC or Penn State), WR Damon McDaniel (Florida), JUCO OL Nick Ekbatani (UCLA), DE Bryant Miller (UM never offered because it wasn't a position of need and grades, and he eventually picked Auburn), DT Kenrick Ellis (a stud UM loved but grades prevented an offer, headed to South Carolina), DT Gerald McCoy (his hometown Sooners or USC), LB Marcus Sims (he'll be playing for a Bowden at FSU or Clemson), LB Joshua Tatum (USC), LB Marcus Ball (FSU or Virginia Tech, not sure UM offered because of grades), CB Jai Eugene (Michigan or LSU), DB Patrick Robinson (grades are an issue, picking Florida), OL Butch Lewis (USC), OG Andre Smith (picking an SEC school), QB/WR Jarred Fayson (committed to Florida but I wonder what would have happened if UM never backed off once Devlin committed). Depending on which recruiting service you go by, Urban Meyer put together either the No. 1 or No. 2 recruiting class in the nation. And the Gators did it despite losing five players who had committed to them at some point during the recruiting process. FLORIDA STATE'S 2006 FOOTBALL SIGNING CLASS Ranked No. 3 nationally by Rivals.com It's still early but in case anyone is wondering what 2007 is looking like for Criami.. Rivals.co: 1 Texas 2 Georgia 3 Florida 4 Ole Miss 5 Virginia 6 Clemson 7 Alabama 8 Virginia Tech 9 Southern Cal 10 Notre Dame 11 LSU 12 Auburn 13 Michigan 14 Georgia Tech 15 North Carolina 16 Miami-FL
Given the fact that Tubby has won, what, 18 of his last 19 SEC games and makes top 5 in the country money, and is head coach in one of the most football-insane states in America...I'd say going to the U is a step down for him. Why do it?
I couldn't imagine him leaving for Miami. I would think he would get more notice at AU, being in the more popular SEC (CBS tv) and a head coach in football-mad Alabama.
