Now, in all honesty, you tell me: is this a National Championship-friendly schedule or what? Date Opponent (TV) Site Time Result 09/03/05 North Texas Baton Rouge, La. TBA -- 11/26/05 Arkansas Baton Rouge, La. TBA -- Tenn may be the biggest problem, followed by Florida and/or Alabama. Auburn? Aside from just coming off a national title (it's going to happen) and losing a bunch of good people, they just won't be as 'hungry', so to speak. We get nearly everybody back and, God willing, at least a little consistency at QB. FYI-Next year's title game? Let's just say it'd be LSU's first-ever trip to Pasadena should they go... :thumb:
I just don't see a loss next year. This team has already learned how to win games in which they have played poorly (OSU, Troy, Florida, Alabama). This will carry over into 2005. Florida may present the toughest problem as Leak has another year under his belt and a new head coach who may very well have turned things around in Gainesville. 11-0, an SEC Championship and another National Title. That's what I am banking on.
Can't wait for next year it would be nice if Auburn pulled it off this year and we win it next year that would be 3 national titles in a row from the same division. Now somebody tell me that the SEC isnt the best conference in the land. Eat that USC!!!
I've given up for now trying to figure out who may be the Nov. 5 opponent. Most schools are deep into conference play by then, so finding a team still in search of an opponent at that time isn't easy. I'm afraid we'll end up settling for a Sun Belt team again, and I'd like to see our non-conf at least a little livelier than that. I say let's go, at the very least, for a respectable Conference USA team like So. Miss or Louisville. I fully expect LSU to receive the "Georgia treatment" in the preseason polls, ranking no lower than #2, if not #1 (well, okay, we all know USC will be #1 in the AP, so who am I kidding?) Finishing 10-2 with a win over a BCS-caliber 10-1 Texas in the Cotton Bowl, for example, would be a very impressive way to cap off this season and roll forward into 2005.
Arizona State may bring some strength to the schedule. They're currently 8-2, will get a decent bowl, and could wind up in the top 20. Agree, Tennessee may be toughest on the schedule.
What? Are you guys serious? We have 3 games left (2 regular season games and a bowl game) and you all are already predicting an undefeated season and a National Championship next year?
I think it may be wise to hold off on the NC talk until we have a QB who can and will complete a forward pass with some (any) consistency...
