More government crap. Some people can't control themselves gambling on the net, so the government is going to solve this problem for them.

I guess those who can't control their gambling problem at the track or casino don't count. Maybe it's because the government receives taxes from them and not from internet gambling.

Hopefully this bill will die in the Senate....

Casinos and tracks are fine because the government collects taxes from those places. Offshore gambling sites they get nothing.

Yep, I must have read right over that sentence.

Just for the record though, I agree that that is why they would do this. :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

its like anything else. if they cant get their paws on it, they want to do away with it. More than likely, the internet is far too big of a place for the idiots in govt to be able to control enough to be effective. they'll do what they can but its a pretty futile task, especially for idiots.

you aint kidding. if there is one thing you cant stop its people doing what they please on the interweb.

i suppose offshore internet casinos could block american ip adresses, but i am sure a few of them want to be rich beyond their wildest dreams and wont bother.

we could just have thes casinos in america and keep billions of dollars here, but i guess that makes too much sense.

well they tried to make it illegal (offshore) from the beginning but there's no governing body on the internet. Where does the transaction actually take place? Who has jurisdiction? Who in the US can enforce our laws on the shores of costa rica?

theres tons of problems that have kept the fat electees out of the mix and luckily there's really no way to fix it when there's a profit making party on the other end who have no incentive to assist. hard to kill the spirit of free enterprise.

they'd have to assemble some type of UN board and come up with a way to share the pie in some fashion to even begin some sort of regulation i would think.

They plan to go after the payment mechanisms, like credit cards.

I hope they enjoy pushing a rope, because there isn't jack shiite they can do to control banks that are overseas. So no mastercard/visa? SFW.

    Exactly.

i think they've put pressure on US banks, card companies etc for years but there's so many ways around it its not affecting it one bit. Its simply helping the alternative means to rake in all the profits while screwing the rest. As martian said, lets not put the profit in our own pockets, it would make too much sense.
