All of the stimulus and bailouts put together would have been about 30k per taxpayer from what I heard. What would have happened if each family would have gotten a 60k check in the mail? Wouldn't have all the people about to lose their home been able to re finance? The toxic debt would have been paid by the homeowners trying to save their homes. What would have happened to the debt so many Americans hold? Much of it would have been paid. If they were going to spend the money then it could have been given to the people. What would you have done with an extra 60k? What would you have bought? Does anyone else see what I'm saying?
I see the same thing. But in doing it that way, payoffs, kickbacks, etc. couldn't have been made. Same thing with the auto industry, a break on the back end (Little to no taxes when buying a new car) would have solved the problem. A lot less costly, lots move cars, everyone does well.
What you are talking about is a sum of roughly 9 trillion dollars. I don't think another 9 trillion dollars of debt would have done anybody very good.
