For laughs, read this silly crap. The sooner ULL stops pretending to be a D1A program & drops to D1AA, where they belong, the better off they will be. See link.We Wannabe Big Boys :geaux:

    Sigh...again??

I thought it was Tulane's fault they sucked since Tulane is the real owner of the name "University of Louisiana".

They think they have LSU's athletics and Tulane's academics, but they don't even have Tulane football or LSU Kinesiology academics! :)

What they fail to realize is LSU is the flagship university of the state and is right down the pipline I-10 from Lafayette. As a former USL student(screw ULL, it will always be USL to me) and lafayette resident of about 6 years partying is the main past time of students and area residents. It would help if the football team wouldn't perenially suck like vanderbilt does. Their baseball and basketball is pretty good. They have alot of money for a town of it's size. Before they start bitchin' about the money or lack there of they should look at other Louisiana towns and realize they have it better than most in that respect. I have never seen ferraris and lamborghinis( yeah, I know it's Reds') in a town that size anywhere else. Plus, there is only so much you can do in Lafayette and Baton Rouge is a close and easy diversion.

Texascajun is right. There are many colleges in Louisiana that could complain about money leaving for Baton Rouge. The fact is that LSU generates revenue for the entire state. Every state has one or two flagship universities that generate countless dollars. If the smaller schools don't like it, start drawing the numbers Death Valley and the Box draw. Then you'll have an arguement.
And no matter how much UL supports local businesses, I'll bet you that by virtue of sheer student population, LSU alums support them even more.
It's a fact of life that schools like UL and even the democratic party can't seem to grasp. If you pay in more, you will reap more benefits.

It is such a shame that LSU has a football team that people want to watch. Since nobody wants to watch the football teams from Tulane and ULL play football, the idiots from those schools try to figure out why it is wrong for anyone to have a football team that people would actually want to watch. This is the same level-down mentality that opposes excellence and extolls the virtue of mediocrity or worse.

They don't bring up the fact that LSU's athletic department is self-sustaining, whereas ULL's pitiful department costs tax dollars to operate because it runs at a deficit. A better question to ask is why tax dollars from people in BR or elsewhere in LA should be used to keep running a third-rate program that can't generate enough fan interest to operate on a break-even basis.
