College Football News has been doing a "Ultimate National Championship" by simulating a playoff system....check it out

LSU just won the South Semifinals with a win over Utah.....they have pretty good recaps of the games.

    Ultimate National Championship

Here is the recap of the Semifinal vs Utah.....also go to their Home Page and look on the right side and you can see round by round results.....LSU is the #1 seed in the South bracket

    No. 1 LSU 35 ... No. 8 Utah 8
LSU made quick work of the Utes with 21 first quarter points as Justin Vincent tore off a 53-yard touchdown run, Michael Clayton caught a 14-yard touchdown pass and Corey Webster returned an interception for a score. Utah's offense wasn't able to cross midfield until late in the second quarter, but blew the drive on a fumble.

The Tigers started off the second half scoring with a long drive ending with a Matt Mauck four-yard scoring run for a 28-0 lead. Utah finally got on the board late in the third quarter on a long drive culminating in a five-yard touchdown pass to Paris Warren followed up by a two-point conversion pass to Ben Moa.

"That team has some serious speed and some amazing athletes," said Utah head coach Urban Meyer. "They looked like they had 12 to 13 guys out there on defense."

That fast defense wouldn't let Utah QB Alex Smith breathe sacking him seven times and forcing him to throw three interceptions. In all, Utah was only able to manage 184 yards of total offense and turned it over five times.

LSU won the battle, but might have lost the a key piece as QB Matt Mauck had to leave the game in the third quarter with a badly sprained ankle. Junior Marcus Randall came in and led the Tigers to a touchdown on a 23-yard pass to Devery Henderson.
Player of the Game - LSU RB Justin Vincent ran 20 times for 145 yards and a touchdown.
    Fun Stat - Penalties: LSU 10 for 95 yards - Utah 1 for 10
