I can understand where a school would not want gear to end up on the market, but aren't shoes and gloves expendable? Everywhere I have ever been that provides those very items, they were kept by the user. Mostly because they could not be redistributed. Does the school actually keep used shoes/ gloves? I certainly don't think they do.

Who knows, maybe the school returns them to the vendor. Dunno.

Do you think Sanders would have refused to cooperate, been arrested and have to post a $3,000 bond for any of those folks?

I think it's because he's impeding an active investigation by withholding info...

Read the story in the original post. It suggests it was a player.

It could also be disinformation. The guy may be misleading the investigators away from some other source, like a student worker in the equipment department or a janitor. The guy could be the thief himself and just wants to appear noble.

I just have a hard time believing the school would report equipment missing from a athlete when this is a possibility. Why take that risk that the athlete is saying it was stolen but really, he sold it. I mean, I understand if it happens constantly but it's a pair of shoes. Let it go.

There are a great deal of people with access to that equipment and there is no proof it was really used in any game. It could have been practice equipment or whatever and the thief is trying to look important. I never underestimate the ignorance of 20 year old athletes or how desperate they may be for money, but I have a hard time believing with all that has happen lately with this kind of stuff that a player would do this. I wouldn't be surprised to find out this is a relative or friend of the guy who sold the equipment and that is why he is clamed up. This would probably get this person kicked out of school or off the football program at the very least and he is trying to avoid that.
