    Unofficial BCS Standings: Week 4

Well, we now have 4 computers and both human polls reporting, so the standings are starting to look more like what they would look like if all polls were reporting. Looking at them this week, suprise! LSU is No. 1, USC's No. 2. I expected LSU to maintain a lead in the computers over USC all season long, so if LSU closes the human poll gap, we could remain No. 1.

All of this is pointless anyway, because being No. 2 is good enough. However, I love it when the computers can go tell the human voters that they are so wrong that the computers override the human element.

    Code:
                   Coaches Harris Computers Total
    1 LSU 0.959 0.962 1.000 [B]0.9736[/B]
    2 USC 0.987 0.990 0.900 [B]0.9591[/B]
    3 Florida 0.898 0.891 0.940 [B]0.9095[/B]
    4 Oklahoma 0.891 0.901 0.660 [B]0.8171[/B]
    5 Ohio State 0.728 0.737 0.880 [B]0.7817[/B]

The thing that speaks volumes to me is how far ahead UF is to OU. The human element would say otherwise. People see a Stoops team that likes to run it up needlessly, and thinks..."WOW, this team is unstoppable". Then they ADMIT that they won't lose a game, because the only real team they play is Texas...and Texas don't look that good right now. They never stop to consider that they may not really be that good...since they're not playing anyone...and their coach is more of a prick than other coaches who call off the dogs when a game is under control.

    Apparently the computer sees this.

I guess the same applies to LSU/USC...just not as blatantly.

Well, one thing to remember is the computer polls are not allowed to factor in margin of victory, so SOS is the biggest factor in ranking teams with the same record. What the early computer results say is that LSU is playing the better teams of all of the unbeatens.

    great job DH

LSU surely a lock to play in the NC if we run the table. A lock to be #1 as well in the BCS. Our SEC CG will ensure that.

A BCS nightmare scenario will be if LSU, OU, USC, Ohio State, West Virginia, and an outlier (Oregon, Boston College, etc) all win out.

Someone is going to get really pissed off, and it looks like at least 3 teams will end up unbeaten this year and 1 or more get left out.

Yea but if USC and LSU win out I think its clear that those are the teams that deserve to be there. They would have had the toughest roads to get there. I'm not worrying aboujt the other teams though. We'll get in and that's all that matters.

it would really suck. as long as they play a decent schedule they have as much right as lsu and usc to get to nc game. i hope that does happen, though, as perhaps it will make a playoff more likely down the road.

it is more likely though that there are 0 undefeated teams than 3 or more. bc has a great shot at undefeated with FSU, Miami and VaTech being down.

I guess playing your 2nd and 3rd string QBs and 3rd and 4th string RBs during those games doesn't count. Of course why do I bother with someone's opinion that probably didn't even watch the game or pay close enough attention to what was going on. You probably just woke up one morning and saw the score in the paper. Oh yeah, I might as well mention the fact that our starting QB is a freshman.

Before you bother to bring up the 77-0 aTm score a few years back, what do you do when the scrubs finally get some playing time and score TDs against an aTm team that has already given up.

I agree that LSU/USC are 1 and 2 unless one of those teams loses; Florida and Oregon could be the major fly in the ointment for those 2 teams.

BC, WVU, Rutgers, Oklahomo could all win out easily.

Oklahomo will not jump 1 or 2 unless they lose, just due to pre-season rankings. They looked VERY good the other night, but again, 1 and 2 don't need to worry as long as they keep winning.

Michigan State and Ohio State are both unbeaten right now. MSU looks very good.

Miss State plays WVU, but I don't see us winning that. No chance.

Hell, if South Florida beats WVU, I don't see them losing a game.
