It's a hybrid of the two which works in the SEC. You have to be physical with a good run game against our SEC type defense. They were talking about that with the evolution of Bama offense on one of the pre-game shows. They said true spread teams rarely won against the upper tier SEC defenses because the physical nature of our DLines disrupted the wide open plays, as qb's didn't have time to read properly. But with a power run game to compliment the spread, the Dline has to respect the power back, which helps slow the aggression of the front 4. Not sure if I buy it but it seems to work for Bama & tOSU. It's not a true spread or power run offense, just a little of both. They also said it only works with the right (smart) players.
Tua says it ain't happening: “I’m graduating early so that’s something I know,” Tagovailoa told USA TODAY from St. Louis High in Honolulu, HI. “I committed to Alabama. I gave them my word. That’s that. I talked to my parents about this LSU offer, and they have their quarterback committed already (four-star Louisiana senior Lowell Narcisse). If they’re really trying hard and interested in me we should be getting calls today or this week. “I speak with Coach Saban on FaceTime every Sunday, and it does make me feel good that he’s committed to that with me and we have connected so much. So it looks like we lose a committed 4 star QB because we offered someone we had no shot at signing. If that's the way this works out... not a smart move.
Orgeron seems to be putting all of his eggs in the Kiffin basket. It's interesting to me that this coup happened with the aid of Jordy Cullotta and Derek Ponamsky (who is a con artist by the way and a felon I think) that Cullotta has been saying all year that Kiffin will come because he owes Orgeron. Obviously this is info he is getting from Ponamsky and it really makes me wonder if Orgeron put Kiffin in his trapper keeper he sold to Joe Alleva, meaning that he basically gave the guarantee that Kiffin was coming. It's going to be interesting to see how this plays out.
If he doesn't come Ed better get his ass in gear. There are still good OCs out there, but you just lost your best QB to commit in a long time and Tua ain't coming.
I love everyone's optimism but just think this whole situation ends badly for LSU. Can't shake that feeling. I don't like the people that Orgeron chooses to associate with.
Neither do I because I have not developed a sense of trust with him yet. His past has not yet been washed clean until he proves he has changed. I had absolutely no trust Alleva & King would get this right and unless O proves he was the right choice, I worry about the future. I hope they succeed and prove they are rehabilitated, but I think King is all wrong for LSU and will hurt us if he is there much longer. Combine that with Alleva and we have a recipe for disaster. I hope I'm wrong and we don't end up sanctioned by the NCAA because one of these guys haven't changed. I'm hoping for the best but preparing for the worse.
