Wow, to tell u the truth i didn't think Meyer would leave Utah for Florida, it really toughens up the SEC, especially the east, however i think meyer wil have a bigger impact than zook, maybe not in his first few years, but he will make fla into a powerhouse in a while, with him in the SEC, the SEC is definitely the conference with the best coaches and teams

Meyer may be good. But since his recent success has been in the Mountain West, I will reserve judgement until he actually starts winning in the SEC.

He will quickly find out things are a bit different in the SEC then the Moutain West and Mac....

I wish him the best but he is about to find out what it is like to recruit against UGA, UM, FSU, LSU, Alabama, etc etc.
Then he will realize playing at BYU is just a bit different then coaching a game in between the hedges or in Death Valley.

Hope he succeeds. We have Saban..... I look forward to Saban shaking his hand and saying, welcome better luck next year at the end of the game.

And Spurrier will continue to recruit the state of Florida heavily, further depleting the available talent pool for UF, FSU, UGA, etc., etc.

    WHY?

I guess that Florida must have panicked during the negotiation stage when a few Notre Dame officials showed up in Utah.

    Talk about LEVERAGE..!!

I wonder how much Florida will be shelling out?

7 years and 14 mil...plus the buyout (a couple a hundred thou more i spose)

I think the 7 years is stupid on their part. I bet he got a huge buyout clause too, that Florida may have to exercise if he can't cut the mustard.

I think his success in his first 3 years will closely mirror that of Ron Zook.

What will they do after that?

Looks like someone bought fireurbanmeyer.com already to prevent another fireronzook.com incident.

I feel so bad for Notre Dame.

I also think the 7 years is a bit much. I don't think he's ever coached a game against a top 10 team. If he has, it was only one or two. I'd make it a shorter contract in case he turns out to be a bust. Unlikely, but possible.

Foley has got to be dumber than dirt to give him seven years!
Meyer is totally unproven in a strong conference atmosphere.

7 years is too extreme. I'd say that is ridiculous even if it was for Spurrier. Their fans and alumni will be asking for his head in 4 years if he can't beat Spurrier at USC. The east recruiting is going to be tough for him.
