I don't see a problem with it. I think it's only a problem is if Bowe had decided to run his own route WITHOUT informing Russell of his decision before the play was called. That could have been disasterous.
I'm sure Bowe didn't complete blow his pattern, he just saw an opening and took off with it. He essentially saved the game for us because none of the other WR's were getting open anyway. Sometimes you have to improvise. I don't have a problem with it. But maybe he shouldn't of told the world what he did.
Two reasons for so many dropped balls: 1) The ball was wet 2) The recievers were shocked when the ball actually came close enough to them that they had a chance to catch it. I also can't believe that Saban wants his players playing back yard football as much as he likes to control things. If Bowe wants to make a suggestion to Fischer thats one thing but we don't need anymore Booty's out on the field.
Bowe has been playing football since he was a junior in H.S. I still haven't made up my mind on how I feel about his quote, but it did score us the TD so I'll live with it.
I'm sorried but I'm disagree with your statement. The QB has a few seconds to spot, time & throw the ball to his opened receivers. QB also has to watch the defense which comes at him. The only reason he can do that is because everyone was assigned to run a precise route. Maybe Bowe was misquoted or the excitement of the game overtaked his discipline. If I was a coach or a quarterback, I would not like my receiver to ignore the called route. Count 1001, 1002, 1003 and throw to an opened wide receiver then u know what I meant.
There is no problem here. Had he ran the correct routes and not gotten open, we would be 0-1. So get over it. Recievers do make adjustments to patterns that are called for. It happens all the time. It's what separates average receivers from great ones. And Dwayne Bowe will be a great one before all is said and done. He just needs to learn to say things the "right" way. He will learn that and quickly.
whoa, is it me or is this an overreaction? i dont think jimbo or nick will care since players make adjustments all the time and coaches actually coach this.... Skyler's UGA td was a busted route....not an improvise. Im sure the improvising by Bowe will be something that isnt even a discussion except a good job for seeing it comment.
I have no idea what you are saying. I am replying to people overreacting to the fact that he shouldn't have run a different route and that he should be more disciplined bullcrap...... So basically I am telling everyone overreacting to this situation to get over it. What say you?
I'm sorried Islstl. This is the first time that I disagree with you. According to many news source & I quote: Bowe said. "I said I'm not even going to run the route you call, I'm just going to get open. I was able to do that and in two plays I scored." He did not alter his route because of the defense but he already made up his mind that he will not run his assigned route. Some posters complained about our QBs were locked on to one receiver. If every LSU receiver which was the 1st option thought like Bowe, that would explain why. I posted a few times on this board that Bowe will be one of the best receiver of LSU but his thinking got to change if he want to make the team better.
sorry quoted u cuz I was in agreement. i think the ppl saying bowe should not improvise or whatever is a problem. I tend to think its just the opposite and something coaches teach....if you see something as bowe did, then by all means make the adjustment.
