No, your answer is the total and complete smoke screen. First of all, its risible how you try to refute this story by linking it to Ft. Worth Star Telegram, and that therefore refutes this story. This is bascially a page from the USC Spin patrol concerning Reggie Bush, where they tried to shoot it down because it was Yahoo Sports that stumbled upon the story. If you reread the story closer, CBS Sportsline also came out with the story.

And, really, what does the fact that he's gone to all those games have to do with this matter. Sure, we all know that he was given tickets to watch SC on the sidelines, when SC tried to distance itself as much from Reggie Bush. The guy is exceedingly proud of SC, so its hilarious that you claim that he never talked or encouraged recruits. In fact, Papadakis told the reporters that he urged the recruits to choose SC and would finish closing the recruits by telling them to declare, "I want to be a Trojan."

If this was just one isolated matter, then it wouldn't be such a big deal. But, this is just part of a larger pattern concerning SC. Where there's smoke, there's oftentimes fire. I think part of the problem is Poodle has lost control of the program- he'd rather be liked by his players than respected.

So reporters from a local tejas paper and CBS Sportsline took it upon themselves to notify USC that they believed a violation had taken place. Honestly, the "coming out" of this story was about as interesting as a gay man in San Francisco "coming out". It never was an investigation by the NCAA.

Papadakis, like any other proud alum has a right to be who he is. You mean to tell me that when 4th and 9 happened 2 years ago and Donut Boy brought out everybody except God to your pep rally that Joe Theisman and Joe Montana didn't talk to recruits?

You think pattern if it helps you sleep better. You believe the smoke/fire theory if it helps you believe in your program a little. Last time I checked, more than a few cavemen died trying to make a fire out of smoke.

And quit doing so much thinking. You know as much about PC's motives and thoughts about his players as Donut Boy does about Jenny Craig. It hurts to see a coach actually enjoy his job, doesn't it? When's the last time Charlie cracked a smile on the field? Nevermind, it was the Pizza Hut giveaway and he won.

I still don't get why you come to this board to flame about SC. If you had a pair, you'd come get some at the SC forum.

McKnight isn't the one USC needs to worry about. Bush is. Compared to the controversy surrounding Bush, McK's is fairly minor. It probably won't go anywhere because there is probably no way to prove or disprove it. But the problems surrounding Bush is another matter. USC could get hammered big time if those allegations turn out to be true.

The problem for USC is one of perception as much as anything else and that is why you are here trying to defend them.

USC has been arrogant in their flaunting of the rules and it has become a reality that people know they are cheating in a big way.

The NCAA may be willing to forgive and forget a few violations but this kind of behavior is embarrasing the NCAA now and they will have to deal with it or they will never be able to put anyone on probation again.

USC has to play by the rules. It isnt one rule for USC and then other rules for everyone else.

They have not been shy about enforcing the rules on the SEC and we just want USC to get the same enforcement.

USC is dirty and everyone knows it.

But you are the media darlings and you think just like the Hollywood stars that you are above everyone else.

I dont just dislike USC i hate them with a passion.
    Stuck up and bandwagon jumpers.

    Not true fans.

I agree that USC is battling a perception problem as much as anything. I will say however that it is NOT the reason I'm over here.

    1. I came here initially because a Tiger fan convinced me that it was a good forum where I could enjoy some football conversation.

    2. I'm here because I enjoy this forum and I'm interested in reading and taking into consideration what Tiger fans have to say.

Do you honestly think a "bandwagon" fan would come over here to show respect and learn something about Tiger football? It would be easy to flame but it's not my style. I've been going to USC football games since I was 3 and riding on my dad's shoulders. I lived through the Hackett era and the 90's when nobody gave a darn about our program and we became the laughing stock of the Pac10. I'm still here and still loving my Trojans as you do your Tigers.

There is nothing I can say to convince you that USC isn't dirty or cheating or that PC is hiding things. It's certainly your right to believe it all.

I do hope that you realize that SC does have it's bandwagon fans but they are the minority and that most of us are passionate, loyal, football loving nuts and can't wait for the season to start.

Living in Northern California and seeing the Pac 10 up close the football experience is just not the same here.

Yes USC does have some die hards as most schools do but the ones i see up in the bay area are bandwagon all the way.

Let me say that you are definetly welcome here and i didnt mean to attack you personaly but you will not find much USC love on this board.

I never hated USC back before Carroll went there. But to me he is the worst kind of Coach. He looks the other way knowing their is and are people violating the rules in a big way.

It is fact he lets agents in the USC locker rooms after games. Then how do you have deniability on these kids having contact with them. It is just the arrogance of flaunting the rules.

And when you start down that road there is no turning back. Win at all costs so you cut corners.

The football side of it is yes USC has had amazing teams lately but at what price to the integrity of their program.

LSU in Basketball and Alabama in Football have felt the punishment for not policing themselves in the proper way.

The administration at USC needs to learn that lesson too.

Oh, really. Where were all those passionate, loyal fans in the 90s when SC was struggling, and there were wide swaths of empty seats when SC played?

Sitting next to me. Way to pick and choose quotes bitter. I already said I suffered through the 90's and I admitted we were the laughing stock of the Pac10. It is what it is. I don't see too many irish fans boasting about your current streak...............remember...........it's up to 9 games now.

I noticed that in 2005 (there's more where this came from), USC ranked #7 in terms of attendance per game at 90,812 while ND came in at #15 with 80,795. Hmmm. Also, if you look at all teams historically in terms of attendance, LSU ranks #6, USC #8, and ND#16............so you're still bringing up the rear or at least lookin' at it. I'll throw you a bone though. In terms of %capacity, all three teams are separated by less than 1%.

Well, I wouldn't exactly consider kal and the furd as a good measure of the Pac10 football experience. They'd be more on par with Ole Miss and Kentucky and I don't think those schools are representative of what the SEC football experience is like. I'm just going to guess that Death Valley is the definitive.

Trust me, I'm not stupid. I didn't come here expecting to find a lot of love, just some football chat and to learn about your program from fans who are as zealous about LSU as I am about USC. On that, we have much common ground.

I could give you countless examples of why PC isn't some of the things you said and why I know he does care about the school, the players, the program, and the alumni. I'm not just a bandwagon fan, but a connected and involved participant in more than a few SC football clubs and associations. It wouldn't do much to sway you. We all like to think "our coach" is good, honest, full of integrity, and not capable of wrong doing and I respect that about fans in general. I think Les Miles is a great coach and a solid recruiter. Hopefully he can get you to the NC in January.
