As opposed to how bad LSU would be with Russell or Flynn?

That was after he signed with LSU late in 2004. He has since been muzzled (and desevedly so) by the coaching staff.

If any QB starts entertaining thoughts of transferring it is because they feel they are not good enough to knock the top guy down so I don't think RP is too concerned with what is going on at Texas. He should feel like he can get the starting job here next season.

I took it as him (or her) meaning that if RP is good enough to beat out two very good quaterbacks for a starting job, LSU's offense would be outstanding. But maybe thats just me.

That's why I was asking...And it seems like a TO type statement. Just hope, for all the good LSU fans here, that he's not that type of guy.

Cajun, you sound like Eagles fans..."Who cares, I'm just glad he's here". Now they are singing a different tune.

As long as he gets a real, fair and clean shot at the starting job this season, he's not thinking a thing.

VY made a huge leap forward from 2004 to 2005; at this time last year, nobody thought he'd be ready to go NFL after the 2005 season.

I have every confidence that Les Miles will give the redshirt freshman RP the same chance that Mack Brown gave the redshirt freshman VY: to win the starting job.

If a slow to recover JR and a "playbook was dumbed down for him in the Peach Bowl" MF can beat out the most heralded high school recruit in years...then, so be it.

But, if RP makes the same sort of quantum leap that VY made in 2004...well, I guess we'll just see, won't we?

In highschool, RP was the hottest thing around & he hadn't faced anybody his whole life that could compete with him. You can't really blame a kid for being cocky at that point. Once he got to college, he realized what it was like to play around other top athletes & gained some humility I think. That, and the coaches taught him to say the right things.

People have made too much out of a few comments he made to a reporter during his recruitment. He was a man among boys in high school and being courted by the last national champions and the next national champions. He got a lesson that reporters aren't his friends, aren't looking out for him, and anything he says will likely end up in the paper.

Since hes been at LSU we haven't heard anything like that from him. Like most freshmen, for the first time in his life, he's playing at a level where everybody is a damn good football player. He's still a confident athlete by all reports, but surely much more realistic.
