My "rabbit-out-of-the-hat" dream would be Bud Foster of VT.

I will agree with a part of this, and for the sake of arguement if he was offered... I would assume he said no because he wanted the inevitbale HC spot and LSU didn't wanna go there with him. But alma mater or not and K-State or not, LSU is a much bigger and high profile program... wouldn't see someone turning it down.
This whole process is making me nuts, I just want to see a qualified guy come into the positiona nd bring our D back to the top.

Hell yes, but I don't see that happening. That would take one of those very special frosty the snowman magic hats.

    ParadiseiNC don't worry, be happy

This is not sour grapes rationalization, but I was never that excited about VK as a possible DC for us. Sure, he would have been a step up from Malleveto, but not the optimal choice, IMO. If we get Chavis or Nix, then I will be happy. I am trying to stay patient and hope for the best. No need to jump to any conclusions when none of us really know the inner workings going on. Faith and trust is all we have. Hopefully we all have something to get excited about soon.

:geaux: The fact that Chavis hasn't made a move yet is encouraging to me since he is supposed to have talked to Clemson. Leads me to believe LSU is still in the running for him since he didn't pull the trigger on on accepting the Clemson job. Yet. I think Chavis is the best option left unless a deal has been made with someone still coaching a bowl - bound team that doesn't want it known yet for obvious reasons. Chavis is the best choice left for LSU, IMO, unless there's a real hot shot somewhere we don't know about. :LSU231:

It appears that Miles was NOT totally sold on Koenning but was definitely seriously considering him for the position.

Koenning appears to have gotten impatient so Miles told him to go ahead and take the K-State job. Koenning appears to be one of the finalists from which Miles would have chosen from and could have conceivably picked. I gotta believe the braggadocio attitude of VK probably put some question marks in Miles head about him and whether he would "fit" in with the read of the coaching staff.

I wonder if Chavis is the guy he really wants. Interesting that Chavis hasn't been signed up by Clemson, huh?

Is he still going to be named DC Wednesday? Im thinking about grilling steaks or some beautiful kabobs that I found at this nice little deli in midtown last week - great prices. Should be a fine celebration if true.
