Nice to see VA Tech steping up. They took the decision out of Beamers hands, which was probably a good thing.

I know I'm in the minority here

But based on what we've seen out of college athletes in the past (Lawrence Philips comes to mind immediately), isn't this kid kind of getting a raw deal? He was caught speeding with pot and gave a beer to a 15 year old. Yeah, both are illegal, but come on, kicked out of school? Compared to what's going on at the Florida universities right now, I certainly hope there is something more to the story than this. Am I the only one that feels this way?

Uhh, he had 14-15yr old girls in his dorm room drinking beer. If that were your daughters, I bet you would want serious action taken.

Sounds like he was wanting to trade a little beer for a 'little' tail.!

I didn't say I wanted my daughter there...

But compared with assaulting a police officer, beating another man half to death, armed robbery, and whatever else is on the list of some of these kids that are still playing ball to be given an "eighth chance" it just seems kind of harsh in comparison.

He is not getting treated harshly, the others were treated way to lenient. And this is his third time breaking scool and athletic program rules. He's getting at least what he deserves. The guys that hit the cops should have been suspended for a year also. Just because the cops decided to not prosecute Rolle and the UF guy Crowder didn't mean they didn't do it, they were guilty but the cops didn't want to ruin their lives by convicting them of a felony. The schools should still suspend them for at least a year IMO.

I totally agree with you when comparing this to the Williams kid at Miami.
