Found this fascinating. Wouldn't matter who the head coach and the player is really as pulling back the curtain on an actual recruiting session via video is really enlightening in general. Throw in the quality of the coach, program and player and that's a recruiting fan's dream for me. Not really imo. Nick has built the best overall program in Div 1. Both on & off the field. He recruits & gets the best because the recruits know they are going to the best overall program in the country. If they don't make it to the NFL, they have an alumni base to draw upon in whatever field they have chosen. Those are reasons why he's the greatest coach in CFB history imo.
LSU used to have the most players in the NFL, then we changed the head coach. https://www.theadvocate.com/baton_rouge/sports/lsu/article_2b778394-949f-11e7-875e-03c570eee58d.html https://www.saturdaydownsouth.com/sec-football/sec-leads-list-colleges-players-nfl-season/
Les was slipping and O has actually flipped the script to putting us back into contention for that honor. We had NFL guys especially receivers transferring out asap under Les at the end. It was just gonna continue to get worse. Many claim Saban called Skip asking to come back but that Skip couldn't do that to Les. Then Les drove us into the ground.
O flipped the script alright, into a 5 win season. How many OL cimmits he have this year? O is not the future at LSU, per a few BOS & other top LSU folks. Yes, multiple LSU WRs, pro bowlers & all-pros, left for the NFL. Shocking. Recruits get NFL grades, before leaving. Saban sells recruits on the NFL period. He's had a ton WRs leave early. Miles drove us into the ground?? His last team was ranked #16 in the Nation. Tell me where 5 win LSU was ranked this last season. When O wins over 114 games at LSU in 11 seasons, or however long he's employed here, then we can talk. He's at a lofty 45 wins, just 70 more wins to geaux! 2015 https://watchstadium.com/final-ap-top-25-college-football-rankings-01-12-2016/ 2020 https://collegefootballnews.com/2021/01/ap-top-25-college-football-poll-rankings-2020-final
We disagree completely on this topic. I've already demonstrated repeatedly Les' marked failures and decline. His time after LSU reinforces that time has past him by. Maybe O is short for the job, but he did what Les could have, should have, and failed to do in 2011. He let the best team in the country go out and prove it by giving them all the tools to showcase their skills. Les handcuffed every team he had at LSU after he lost Perriloux and was traumatized by Jarrett Lee's pick sixes.. went into a shell and never came out. Lied to everyone year after year. Dug us a hole in state that led to DeVonta Smith winning two titles and a Heisman for Saban and Bama. That's all on Les. He won 4 titles at LSU.. 1 for the Tigers and 3 for Saban. It's just reality. O was a cluster this season, no doubt. We'll see what he's truly made of going forward.
The one glaring example that exemplifies Les' stubbornness and refusal to be dragged into the 21st century is the 2011 national championship game. When you offense has failed to even cross the 50 yard line in the first half with Jefferson at the wheel it's time to try anything else. Jarret Lee couldn't have done any worse. Even Mettenberger would have been a better option. If Les had made that change and still lost we could say at least he tried. BUT NOOOO.
