This is exactly what you do, 10 and 2 at all times look straight ahead don't move until ordered to do so. Don't start looking for your id and registration and insurance unless you want to get drawn on.
In my younger days, the protocol on a traffic stop was to extract your driver's license from your bra in front of the state trooper and then flirt with him. Worked like a charm in Mississippi one time in '96. In my 40's, I may be past the boob and flirt methodology.
Granted I have not been pulled over often, but every single time I have I have went into my glovebox and gotten the registration and proof of insurance. Never had a gun drawn on me. I'm also only 5'10" out of shape and I'm white.
I always roll down the window and put both hands on the mirror. Been pulled over about 10 or so times over the last 5 or 6 years and this method has gotten me out of all but 1 ticket. That was in a speed trap town where no one gets away with it.
Dude if you watch the cop in the mirror you can almost see him relax once he can see your hands. It totally takes them out of "WTF is this clown going to try and do to me" changes their whole attitude instantly.
