One of our biggest plays came on a sideline route (albeit not to Bowe). And I think that Jimbo has done a good job changing up the routes. We've succeeded all over the field. I would hardly say that we're reliant on the WR screen. But if watched the Arky game, that doesn't explain why he thinks our running game is 'very weak.' As for Hart, despite ackowledging that he'll fall somewhat short of his typical average, I believe that he's still being a bit too optimistic. But that's just me.
We ran it a bit much for my tastes as well, but when the defense can't defend it and/or aren't respecting it...
I think that we fixed the problem with the secondary, as Arkanas proved. Say what you want about that QB (not starting the jokes, others can if they want), but there's no denying that there's a thin line b/w awesome secondary and a pass interference (just ask AU refs) and I can say that we saw some awesome secondary compared to the same unit vs. Bama and UT. Also, in both of those games (and in all of our wins, really) we've either effectively removed either one form of offense (passing or more often running) or limited both altogether. I therefore hope that this team, especially after a month of layover, is going to play very smart football.
It's sad that other team's fans see this, but some people on this very board can't. This game will come down to coaching, and that's what scares me. I think we match up pretty well talent-wise, so it'll be a discipline thing. All these penalties we've had all year should hopefully be fixed before the meeting. I have faith. It could be Florida all over again. Us thinking we should beat them, yet we beat ourselves.
Why? You do realize that their coach is Lloyd Carr, right? If you think that Miles is a bad big-game coach, you ain't seen nothin' yet!
he needs to ask kentucky (and prob miami) what happens when we have our full roster and are well rested. WR screen suits me fine when I watch Bowe flatten the other teams linebackers and keep running
