I was thinking today about how its been awhile since the posts came down. Even in close OT games against ranked SEC rivals they haven't come down lately. Anyone know when they came down prior to the Florida game? Inquiring minds wish to know.
Tennessee in 2000 maybe??? I think they did come down in an overtime game against Tennessee im just not positive on the year. I think its safe to say LSU has now hit a point where tearing down the goal posts is a think of the past.
Because of security or because we expect to win every game now? So if we have another 1990's they'll be back?
ya tennessee was the last time...i do remember that game a few years ago when we beat alabama for the first time in years at tiger stadium and they tried to tear it down but they put something on the goal posts which made them just slide down.
In 2000 both goalposts came down against Tennessee, and I believe just the one by the student section against Bama.
Yes I think it was in 2000? Against Alabama which was the first time we had beaten them at home since 1969. They had put that gel on the goal post in light of what they new was going to happen. But somehow they got one goal post down:hihi:
It has really nothing to do with security. If the fans wanted to get on the field they could. Lets see, 20,000 vs. The Cops... LOL who's going to win?? My comment was actually saying that LSU has hit a point where they are so successful that they should never tear down the goal post. To me, when you tear them down, you are conceding the fact that the opposition is better than you.
