wow ... i'm so proud of Les. He truly is special ... good thing the SEC is down this year <sigh>. http://http://www.lsusports.net/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=5200&ATCLID=205001946
I never got that "oh, sh*t we are about to lose this one" feeling. I never felt they were going to score, never felt like we could not score if needed. Other then looking and being bad in the passing game, we were in control.
Had that DB not tripped over an ant on the way to the endzone, you wouldn't have been so confident. The offense couldn't move. LSU was up 17-0 at one point in the first half, and then won 20-14. It came pretty close, dude. Thankfully, the defense is playing lights out.
And we didn't throw one....We pounded the ball and kneeled the clock out. Sounds like a controlling victory to me.
I would agree that we were. WV had one great drive (which this defense is good for giving up one a game) and had a very short field from our QB. I had 100% faith in our defense when we went up 17-0 to not give away the lead as long as the offense doesn't help them. I honestly think this game ends 20-0 if Peterson doesn't have his Heisman penalty and if Jefferson doesn't try to give them 7 points. The 15 yard penalty hurt LSU's field position battle that they have won every game. Teams start on their own 20, maybe gain 1 first down, and punt. LSU, with Peterson, either flips field position with a return, or they punt OOB. The penalty gave WV momentum through field position, giving them a boost for a score (53 yard drive). Don't twist his words and make it sound like he said we were never in danger of losing, but LSU had control. After they missed a FG, they never got past their own 15 yard line.
