Yes, the refs burned LSU. There were no bad calls that went against AU but all against LSU. -The Hester fumble was the worst review play of the year so far. There was no indisputable evidence that made that an incomplete pass. - The late helmet shot on Hester out of bounds was a no call (would've been big at that point even though I think we scored a FG on that drive) - I don't understand how they can pick up the flag on the last Pass Interference call. The play was called, but was it an official that came over and said the ball was tipped or was it reviewed upstairs. It seemed to me the officials reviewed the play after the PI was already announced and began to be marked. Why in the hell announce the penalty if in fact an on the field official thought it was tipped. There should have been a discussion before announcing the call. Did another official actually argue on the field that the ball was tipped, why didn't the flag thrower see the tip? Can the officials review their calls even though the coaches can't challenge the call? That was very odd in how that went down. However, the offense stunk. No running game, and I have preached since the first game that I was still worried about the O-Line. They did really good in pass protection but had no success on running plays. Kudos goes to AU for shutting those down, but only playing AB and JV was the dumbest decision of the game. They are both timid, JV more than AB, and AB isn't the runner he used to be. He seems more content to run around the corner than plow into people in this game. He will get better though once he realizes that he is most effective at hitting guys. I was dumbfounded that Scott was never brought in to mix it up. That was just dumb. Auburn absolutely beat LSU O-line in stopping the run. In that they deserve a congrats. Auburn deserves congrats on creating running lanes for Irons and Irons was impressive on the long drives that ate up clock.
The officiating was horrible and terribly one-sided. That said, the game was there for the taking. Russell not throwing the ball away on first down was a real killer. The illegal formation penalty was a blessing, b/c the game would have ended when Russell completed a short pass across the middle w/ 6 seconds left. On the last play of the game, the ball has to go into the endzone; at least to the goalline. That is three critical errors by the quarterback. All of them mental. The boy needs some coaching, I hope.
And by the way, Miles is a great coach, Jimbo is a great coach. This game was tight because both teams are great!! The officiating decided the ultimate outcome of this game!
The sideline completion early in Auburn's TD drive was not a catch. I DVR'd and slo mo'd it. The ball slipped through the receiver's arms before he hit the ground out of bounds. The ball may have even hit the ground, but either way, he did not have control of it before touching down out of bounds. Would have been 3rd and 6. It was obvious from the reverse camera angle. I don't understand why the play wasn't reveiwed.
If you recorded the game on every nice run by Irons you will see either 1 or 2 of LSU interior linemen being held and pulled to the ground. I do not give auburn props for running the ball. (sorry) I now hate auburn even more!
Thank you, I was pissed about the non-PI call too but we didn't play as well as we should have. It was our loss and not the Refs screwing us. Now i'm waiting for all the FIRE MILES AND BENCH RUSSELL threads.
Everybody giving Auburn the credit or saying this and that can kiss my butt. I thought LSU played great. the REFS WERE PAID OFF!!!!! I will go to my grave thinking that. OUR BOYS deserved to win. Every key call goes against us. How can a ref who never saw the play pick up the flag and call against it? I don't know. The whole game was rigged. I will say I hate Jimbo and his play callling was terrible. I called my buddy in the first half and complained. But to have the game in your hands after a bunch of bad calls and then get it taken away by another BS call is unreal. The Boosters at Auburn got there hands on one here and are loving it. The unfortunate part is that the media doesn't respect us enough to dissect it. If we were USC, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, they would be all over it. Media will say Auburn beat us fair and square but we know that the whole game was rigged. I've been watching LSU for 25 years and have always felt oh well. i've lost my faith in college football after this one. Clearly one-sided. We didn;t stand a chance from the opening kickoff.
Now, I will say I definately think at the end of the 1st half Auburn should've been called for PI on that pass into the endzone but it wasn't and that's football. If the game was in Tiger Stadium most of those calls would've gone our way, I don't think we should really be complaining about it. The team needs to take it in stride that they lost to a great team by only 4 and channel that into trying to win out the rest of the season and making an at-large berth to a BCS bowl.
Agreed...they had 60 minutes to get in the end zone and we didnt. I would have never thought Id be sitting here after this game wondering how THAT offense did not get in the endzone. :angryfire
