It's hard to have restraint when your lady's been disrespected. It just comes out. The same goes with anyone else you love.

If Pittman wasn't as strong as he was, he probably wouldn't have been arrested. Cops would consider someone like him a "lethal weapon" and would like to discourage other like sized men from doing the same.

It's nice to see that chivarly is still alive. I have no doubt Les Miles probably patted him on the back with an "atta boy."

    Peace,

    Mark

Look, this ain't like armed assault, road rage, or beating up a nun on the street or something. Some of you youngsters may not have been in any bar fights, but they often come on quickly and you don't have a lot of control over it. The testosterone/adrenalin cocktail takes charge for a few moments then it is over just as fast.

There ain't a lot of time to consider your size or his size or his motives or whether you are a public figure or "what is coach going to think?". Fists fly and you defend yourself and swing away. And then there you are, explaining yourself to some bored cop.

If Pittman was a drunken agressor and looking for a fight, he will be dealt with harshly by the judge and by the coach. If he was a just a guy in a bar that got caught up in a fist fight, then he will get his mighty wrists slapped.

Go back and reread my post. I said it usually happens every year. What this guy was thinking when he swung at a behemoth like Pittman, I have no idea. Best guess was, he wasn't thinking at all (at least not rationally).

Been there. It is much easier to talk about restraint after the fact. With age I have learned not to put myself in places where these thing can happen.
Also with age you like to believe you can think before you react.

I hope no coach gives Chase an atta boy for beating someone unconscious. That would really open the door for some real stupid stuff down the road.

I'll never understand the thought process behind this.

"This dude's 6-4, 270. He outweighs me by 100 and is about 5 inches taller. But, he disrespected me. I can f***in take him...."

30 seconds later he wakes up on the floor wondering what happened.

Far be it for me to agree with scrappy, or, God forbid, an AU fan, but the fact is that we don't know what happened.

It is quite possible that Chase sucker punched a guy who may or may not have "groped" a girl (grabbed her tit? slapped her butt? held her forcibly while grinding on her for minutes at a time? who knows?). He may have kicked the guy while down and defenseless. He was hospitalized?

Depending on the nature of the "groping", the timing of the response, and the severity of the "beat down", Chase either behaved as a heroic and chivalrous savior, a cheap-shotting thug, or, more likely, something in between. The beatee is either a victim, a villian, or, again, something in between

We are all rightfully proud of the relatively trouble-free team we've had the last few years, but we should not be so quick to piss away the moral high-ground. Take off your Godamm LSU blinders and at least concede the possibility that he could be in the wrong. I costs nothing, it's the right thing to do, and it helps you salvage your dignity should it prove so as the facts come out.

Scrappy is a sheet-stirrer, but nothing he has said is factually incorrect. Ironic that we rightfully ridicule the Tenn fans for their vapid excuses for every tawdry tale out of Knoxville.

Uhh, Deek. It was in a bar! Alcohol consumption likely played a part. Drunks are liable to say and do anything.

True, but then again "90% of us" do not stand 6'4", weigh 260 and can bench press a small South American country.

These guys are lethal weapons, to a degree. If my 5'11, 190 pound ass punches someone in the face, he'll likely just laugh at me; if Chase Pittman hits you in the face, that'll be the last thing you remember for a good, long time to come afterwards.

You just can't go around punching and kicking people when you're that big, even when it would be "the right thing to do".
